Does it really work like that Carl ??

Last season Bolton where letting in goals left right and centre, but still had one of the best English Centre backs in England (in the world if you beleive half them on here).

Not really but it has some bearing. Boro are in Championship. How shit must the rest of them be?

rememeber GAZ isnt ITK, but he knows a few people who are.

90% of his info is correct

so is the Wheater info in the 90% or the 10%

They have a team of 'Old Firm' rejects !!!

Just think its unfair to question his talent though, im sure the same can be said about the likes of Holden, looks a player, but why at 24 has other so called bigger teams not signed him !?!

Boro have obviosuly had a load of shite managers, that have not helped any of the young English players at Boro.

Im guna stick my neck out and say, that Wheater, under Coyle, will get back to the form that had him in the England squad.

I'm glad we have called there bluff let's have him signed pre contract for nowt, that would make him a risk worth taking.

sign him on a pre-contract for a summer Bosman.

we can't

we can't

No, but you do see, Verbal agreements etc. Like we did with Beckford.....!

Think Pablo saying you can't "officially" sign someone but a nudge and a wink to an agent and roberts your aunties fuck buddy ?

we have one of those already pablo with rivaldo.

very good

Personally I'd rather get a good right-back (who can defend) and use Ricketts as centre-back cover.

But if Wheater's gettable at a decent price, why not.

I've got to the not arsed anymore stage of this transfer.

It would seem Boro want ?3m+ for him.

It would seem we don't want to go above ?2m

It would seem no other fucker wants him that badly.

Boro should take ?2m or risk him walking for nothing.

We should set a limit we're going to and stick to it.

I think a compromise will be reached to suit both parties but I agree it is a bit tedious.

We don't really do quick transfers these days and I'm glad in some ways. Sammy Lee was a master of the 2 million get em in quick technique and we ended up with a squad full of players who looked great on You tube!

I don't know how good Wheater is but I reckon OC will get the best out of him.

I hear this a lot about our Owen.

Our defence is piss poor, though.

You would have to say that Ricketts,Robinson, Elmander and Knight are way better than under Megson.

We do concede regularly but you defend as a team.

Unfortunately our star defender isn't in your list and our defence is still piss poor.

there always seems to be a massive gap between the back four and attack, with mid field being split in between need someone who will stay in the middle of the park and break up play.

That's the problem with playing two in the middle, isn't it? One goes, the other is left with half the pitch to cover. The back four should squeeze up and play a high line but two of them are slow boats so they tend to drop off and make the gap between front and back bigger than it should be.

It's a valid point, but not as simple as that in terms of cause and effect

That particular scenario is dependant upon a number of other factors, primarily how the 4 at the back play (in terms of marking and being free), which is determinded by how many the opposition play up front.

This is also affected by the type of wide man you employ - i.e. do they tuck in if both central midfielders push on and the ball is being carried down the other flank, or are they stood on the opposing full-back etc etc

Personally I don't think it's our biggest issue as when we were successful there was little change to the positioning of our centre midfield.

It is however, stark contrast to the way it was under Megson, where the midfield barely supported the front man at all and the gap there was huge resulting in terrible ball retention

Aye, it was simplified. However, our wide players don't often tuck in, and our defence has a tendency to drop off irrespective of the opposition's attacking ambitions. It's not even a criticism, particularly, more an observation. If you play like we do, your defence is going to find itself more exposed than if you play five in the middle with three of them patrolling our side of the centre circle.

Obviously if Jussi did his job properly and came for every ball within 50 yards of his goal, there wouldn't be an issue.

Or 50 millimetres of the goal line ?

it doesnt help that muamba is allowed to get so far forward.

as coyle has said he want him more involved, but for me he need to stay goal side of the ball at all times.

he's a destroyer not a creator.

if were going to persist with 442, with fullbacks getting forward, mumba needs to be far more defensive imo.
