Getting Sussed Wearing Colours.

Just laughing how easy meat we were sporting our teams scarves at away matches in the 70s, we got cute in the 80s and just blended in with the flow, with a little BWFC badge pinned on your jacket.

Not sure which bar you are talking about but there was a number of older Bolton lads about for that game that really would not be posturing ESL style.

was it that bar where the bloke got a kicking and made the evening news?

Walked/thumbed up to Burnley in 76 for an Anglo Scottish cup game at Burnley. I think they'd just been relegated from the top tier.

Got a lift on the back of a flat-bed truck from around the Jumbles to Rawtenstall and walked the rest of the way. (That'd not happen these days!)

Half way down that fucking big hill (Manchester Road) we decided discretion was the better part of valour and we hid our scarves. We were only 14 after all and decided we didn't fancy taking on the whole of Burnley on the way through the town.

A group of lads were stood at a bus stop and legged us onto an estate. We didn't know where the fuck we were and they knew all the ginnels and pathways. Anyway, after a bit of running they ended up surrounding us and demanding our cash and scarves. We tried putting on a local accent in a bid to convince them we were local. Bad idea because they then thought we were taking the piss out of their accent.

A woman and a bloke had seen the commotion from their garden and came out. We took the chance to run like hell and managed to get far enough out of the way.

Was that a pre season game?

Was walking down the same road with mate and his bird for same game I think.

Hot day just a t-shirt on and scarf tied round my wrist like you di int hose days - dickhead.

About 15 Burnley lads legged it over the road and gave me a good kicking, my mate legged it.

Had to check my tackle was still working when I eventually got to the ground.

Got sussed I was a white by a fellow wanderer in a Liverpool night club this new years day just gone. Had my elephant 1877 jumper on.

Always makes me laugh thinking of a City mate who, when we were swapping stories about getting scarfs nicked back in the 70s, told me how Everton fans at Goodison set fire to his. "So they nicked it and burnt it?" I asked. "No, I was still fucking wearing it!" was his reply

Crawley. Take it or leave it son. Take it or leave it.

Yes, its hammered tonight, some mags have took it on, got the usual anti Sunderland songs on the songsheet, but a good laugh.

It sure was Barry, it was like walking round Bermondsey after a Millwall match flaunting your colours.

By christ that whole country were grim but at least they sold beer in the garages on tap :yahoo:
