not only was i sent to shop for those as the only lad (bar me dad ) at the time , and with three sisters and me mam. i was sent to the shop/chemist for S-T or ess tees , took me yonks to figure out they were sanitary towels :pardon:

We had a corner shop when I was younger. It was hilarious watching the faces of the women come in and ask for me mam only for her to shout through to the back room 'H can you nip to the storeroom and fetch a box of tampax'

Joking aside, your broccoli comment did tickle me. I now have a vision of LW with ropes and crampons scaling a broccoli :D

You used to be able to grab onto the bucket at the end of a diggers arm and get the driver to slowly spin the machine around 360 degrees, with you holding on for dear life. He'd then steadily go faster and faster until there was a chance you'd let go and fly off into some fuckers garden 50 foot away.

Great Saturday morning fun it was.

The HSE aren't half killjoys :D

In my shit shifting days we once had to hire a mini digger for a particularly big pile of shit.

Once the machine was dropped off we spent all morning doing that.

Have to admit I thought this thread was gonna be about how the sands of time had caught up with us all...

Nonetheless, it's brought back good memories of mooching about, climbing trees/the pylons up Cow Lane, nipping to the corner shop for 40 Embassy No 1's as a 7-yr-old (for me Dad)...AND...

Chinese Arrows. Anyone else remember these? Made them out of those green garden centre plant sticks - sharpened the end to a point, cut a notch in the top and launched them with the aid of a shoelace. Originally it was just a comp to throw them the furthest but then it graduated/descended into chinese arrows fights between two groups. Looking back it was madness, but remember it being good fun at the time...

A cracking memory, I remember making them, and then my mother taking them off me, so made some more.....and she took them off me again...and then I made some more....and so on

Buying your mam a pack of Doctor Whites. I would shudder now knowing what i was buying then.
