Stuff You Just Can't Do These Days

We used to live behing the graveyard near st andrews in radcliffe and I'd Ride to the corner shop on higher ainsworth road to buy 20 b&h for my mam.

I was 6 tops.

Obviously not the fags part but how many (responsible) parents would let a 6 year old do that now. I know I wouldn't.

My dad sent me over the road from our house to a barber what sold cigs, at a similer age for a pack of 10 best, i came back with a pack of jonnys.

At age of ten sent for

Fags to corner shop

Ale from Pub Off licence

and half a gallon of Paraffin at T'hardware shop for a free standing heater we had.

Didn't do me any harm - I'm a alcoholic, bronchial, pyro-maniac.

Mrs CWP's grandad used to send her down the bookies to put his bets on each Saturday morning when she was about 10. I'm not sure that sort of thing would be allowed to happen these days

I can relate to that, ..well maybe not the pyromania.

at around 12, as well as nipping for fags, regular sunday afternoons were spent nipping down to the hare and hounds or the Oasthouse, and take the car home for my dad. was only two minutes away, but Jesus, I dont let my 12 year old in the front seat now!

Take photos of your kids at school events without feeling like a peado.

You used to be able to grab onto the bucket at the end of a diggers arm and get the driver to slowly spin the machine around 360 degrees, with you holding on for dear life. He'd then steadily go faster and faster until there was a chance you'd let go and fly off into some fuckers garden 50 foot away.

Great Saturday morning fun it was.

The HSE aren't half killjoys :D

How many kids nowadays have ever climbed a tree? I don't mean just a few foot, I mean right to the top of some big fucker, bird nesting or summat. It was character building, specially when you fell off.
