Widnes Two Hats
That was disappointing, looks like my Christmas holiday is cancelled
newquaywhite
Actually ive been a bit over harsh... i guess no one knew it was gonna be one of/the quickest run Arc... I do still think too much was left to do, but a lot of ground was made up. Petrov on the other hand deserves to be run over by the entire Arc field. Mounts Kipper
What a shame a race like the Arc is a lottery due to the draw, a creditable run from SYT, however I think if he would have stayed in training in Australia he would have won, obviously OBrien is a top trainer but feel the change of country and surroundings has reduced SYT ability. Sweep
Even with a good draw SYT may have struggled to keep up with the eventual winner, when Danedream kicked she was off at a right rate of knots
athywhite1958
In this 'ere Arc race, how many places do they pay up to on an EW bet, 3rd or 4th
Traf
Generally 3rd, mate, unless you were on with a bookie offering special terms. I'd 8/1 E/W antepost with Paddy Power paying 4 places. So I managed to make a small profit out of the race.
Traf
PS CWP did rather better: backing the 3rd place at 16/1 E/W.
Sweep
PS CWP did rather better: backing the 3rd place at 16/1 E/W. I told you I had a feeling about it....not that it ever looked like winning, another couple of yards and SYT would have nicked that 3rd place

Traf
I told you I had a feeling about it....not that it ever looked like winning, another couple of yards and SYT would have nicked that 3rd place You did indeed. I also felt that once they both got drawn in the car park, neither of them were going to win. You don't win the Arc from stall 12 upwards. SYT was in 14 and your Snow Fairy was in 13. Mind you, i did also say I didn't like Heffernan and I think he could have done better. The Aussie jockey Arnold should have been on SYT. Members bolty58
Just back from the National Scooter rally weekend. Liver fooked but I avoided all news channels etc. so I could watch the race before knowing the result. Shiyte draw, shiyte jockey, shiyte ride, shiyte result. Sorry lads - you will just have to take it on trust that he is better than that. Cummings tratining and Arnold riding would have made for a different result. Doesn't ease the pain in the hip pocket region however.
Traf
Still 11/4 fav for the Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week. Looks very likely to run and will also be coming back next season for another year in training. Plenty of chances of making up for any losses. Bothered? Nay lad. The vagaries of punting. It only hurts for a minute. Equally, I don't go ballistic when I win big either. A gamblers winnings are like a maidens kisses. They fade before the dawn. Traf
As an Aside: Black Caviar goes for her 14th straight win at 3.20am Saturday!
Members bolty58
As an Aside: Black Caviar goes for her 14th straight win at 3.20am Saturday! ...and 1.08 on Betfair is overs! Only remote danger is Karuta Queen who will give a lot of cheek. Later on, the Caulfield Guineas is the big one. 3 potential equine superstars in it - Smart Missile, Helmet and Manawanui. I am in the Smart Missile camp on the basis that he is the only horse to have beaten the next Aussie superhorse (Sepoy) and at his last two runs he has been blighted with the worst luck you can possibly imagine. Strong feeling he'll put the record straight tomorrow.
Traf
Karuta Quenn won't get near with such a poor draw.
Members bolty58
That was embarrassingly easy and the trainer has confirmed she'll be travelling overseas. Get ready to witness something freakish at Royal Ascot. Smart Missile went terribly so I am now left with my best bet of the day - Testa My Patience in the last at Caulfield. Traf
Bolty lad, Ryan Moore rides SYT today on Champions Day at Ascot. Must be a better option than Heffernan. Would still prefer to see Uncle Kieren up on it, though.
