Club Badge Poll

As an addendum to the yes option - what would you like to see it changed to? Lose the ribbons? Back to the elephants? etc.

Elephants for me.

That looks like a PROPER badge with some history behind it.

a banana

about as much chance.

Without the 1958 and the banner at the bottom.

Pointless debate IMO.

The club will only change the badge if there's a financial reason for doing so. 24 members of BWSA won't be enough to force a change.

The BWSA would be better off channelling their energies into something more constructive.

Agreed, hence addition of the ribbons when we moved to the stadium but just thought it would be interesting as the yes option in the poll seemd very broad in comparison to the other options.

No amount of lobbying from a group of fans will force a change.

To be fair, you could level that criticism on the threads regarding 'who should go', 'who we can buy' etc etc as it will make fcuk all difference (unless OC, ED and PG really do read all this bollocks) but it's ok to just talk about things.

Boycott the shop and all goods with that badge and the club would soo change the logo, I complained to the club shop assistant manager last year to say I and many fans did not like the current badge and that I was sure many fans would only buy goods with the old badge, she said that it was the club corporate image and it was not up for discussion. Surely the club could bring out a limited range of products with the old badge, the lancashire rose needs to be on any merchandise as it differntiates BWFC from being a club in greater manchester, which is strictly true but for old farts like me BWFC is in Lancashire.

one with Th'Elephants, even if it was just for 1 season for a retro kit etc

Pretty sure there is a range of clobber with the old badge on plus that 1877 range

I own very little with the new badge and fuck all with 118 Bet on BUT they are queueing out the door come match day.

Badge???dont care,i want to see us win something before my time is up,not too much to ask eh?

We won the Sherpa Van Trophy in 1989, or does that not count

i own a shirt they do with the rose and an elephant

hate the ribbons

Leave it as it is... I have it tattoed on my leg ! :D

My opinion is that the club badge doesn't represent the history of the club, or the town, as well as it could. I would like to see a red rose/elephant on it, perhaps mixed with the modern BWFC sign.

They do. I bought my Dad a jacket from some a "vintage" range for his birthday earlier in the year.

Please no to elephants and roses if it's going to be changed.

Get on illustrator & design one. You know you want to.

Not really, I don't dislike the current badge, if people don't like the ribbons, then I'd rather just have the BWFC, I know the rose and elephant have history, but I can't say the design's of the traditional/old badges are to my likening.

I can't see the Reebok Stadium with an old kind of badge on it's walls.

Apparel more you thing over graphics? Fair enough.

Elephants are too 'Coventry City' for me. Bring back the previous badge. There was nothing wrong with it so why change it?

Money.

When the old badge was around the idea of corporate image wasnt a big deal as such the old logo wasn't copyrighted. The new logo was created to protect marketing opportunities and merch sales.

I'm pretty sure the club did own the copyright to our old badge, i think it was re-designed just to coincide with the move to the Reebok.

There was a fashion in the mid-70's to stage competitions to re-design club badges, partly because a few teams had their town coat of arms on their shirts and found that they were unable to copyright them. We staged one of these competitions and the winner was the badge we had before the current one. Forest were another club who did the same and one of their fans designed the one that they've got now.

Just don't let Reebok and 188bet near it <_<

Arsenal, spurs, manyoo, qpr and no doubt a few others have changed their badge recently.

It's all part if the corporate image and preventing it looking dated and stale to protect the marketability of the club.

It probably was linked in to the move from burnden as were many other changes in the club as part of the changes in modern day football.

That sounds like something the marketing department would say to justify spending a small fortune to stick a couple of squiggles onto part of the old badge.
