Ok well I am seriously considering getting my eyes lasered. They have gradually deteriorated over the last 6 years, my prescription is now -2.75, however my next test is due, I now think I am more -3.5.

 

I am pissed off with wearing bins and contacts are a pain in the arse, I always forget to take the things out when I have had a skinful.

 

Have any of you had your eyes done, are the results worth the risk?

My eyes are worse than yours Danny lad (4.2 left eye and 4.25 right eye) but I wouldn't want laser surgery personally.

 

There's nothing wrong with it according to the 2 people I know that have had it, they say it is the best thing they have ever done but I like wearing specs. I feel naked when I'm wearing contacts and can't wait to get my specs back on. I've been wearing them since I was 12 and guess I have got used to them.

 

I say go for it if you aren't comfortable with contacts or specs if you can afford it.

two of my mates have had it done and swear by it, i suppose if your going to spend your money on something then it may as well be something incredibly useful, im not sure it cures beer goggles though mate.

I had it 10 years ago and still 20/20 ish vision. the stuff that has come out since is even better.

Yes I did as my corneas were too thin to have the quicker proceedure. But helpfully they told me it's better if I did Boxing or Rugby, that made me chuckle.

 

You don't feel a thing in the surgery, it smells a bit funny when they pull the flaps back( but then doesn't it always?) and it's like looking into a glass of water.

 

I won't lie it was agony for a week and it took two weeks before I was in no discomfort. Night driving was odd for about three months with the headlights flaring but I drove to Bolton with no real issues, and I used drops for about four months. My sight is even better than 6 months ago, in fact I've forgotten about it to the extent I didn't go for my 12 month check up in May.

 

If you can gave the easier proceedure ( and your not a boxer) I would go for that so to avoid the two weeks of pain.

I wasn't going to mention the smell because it sounds worse than it is. but if you are wearing contacts then that whole process is worse than the surgery.

yes can be done that way best ask whoever your paying for that wedge I think you will finding them willing to listen and if they don't go elsewhere

They think you'd be daft, trust me you won't go blind. Worst that'll happen is that they don't improve as much as you'd like.

My auntie had one eye done years ago then was ok so got the other done so i guess the answer is yes

Missus Darby had it dine a couple of yrs ago, she says it was great

 

But then her vision can't be all that; she married me

 

I do believe that they'll only do it if your prescription has been the same and not deteriorated over a period of time, maybe 12 months

Your eyes are in pain (apparently they burn like as if you were chopping strong onions) for about a day. By the 2nd day they were virtually pain-free and their lives have changed massively for the better.

Like Crawley I totally forgot to go for my 12 month check-up in May.

 

Gotta say I'm loving it, gigs, matches, cinema, driving & even shopping.

 

However I've worked some long hours recently and felt like my vision on the motorway wasn't as pin sharp as I thought. But then again I may need to give the windscreen a quick wash!!
