I know this probably isn't going to work, but I just wanted to try and start a POSITIVE thread on this board.

 

Is anyone else quite impressed with how sharp Petrov has looked during pre-season, and does anyone else think that it has suggested to Owen that he can safely let Taylor leave for the Spammers?

Petrov is a work-shy luxury with a piss-poor attitude IMO.

ive just seen a couple vague match reports.

don't be fooled by a couple of friendlies against piss poor oposition he will.be back to his usual self come august 13th see above for details

there is a time and a place for posititvity and it usually is last orders

 

BUT if Petrov has got his act together and doesn't act like a petulant twat , and puts a shift in and stays injury free then he might turn it around

Heard he was great against Houston

 

No problem with that, but it's pre-season, lovely weather, nice atmosphere, no pressure or requirement for defending

 

The worry is will he be likt that at Wigan, or Wolves etc etc

 

Happy to be proven wrong, but I'm not drawing any conclusions by it

wouldn't read anything into preseason in any capacity with regards friendlies

 

though I did see him smiling in one of the pictures someone posted the other day

So far Petrov has performed for Bolton just as he did for City. Occasional brilliance but displaying a poor attitude and never bothering to help out even by chasing back, let alone doing anything more.

But maybe, just maybe, OC has got the message across? But as has been said above it's easier to shine against weak opposition where you don't have to bother about defensive back-up.

Petrov was a right lazy bastard the first half of last season. Never bothered tracking back and protecting the full back at all. He seemed to pick up though after Christmas and was putting a bit more of a shift in. He looked to me like he was coming to. Then he went right back to square one against Stoke. I think it just depends on the day whether he can be arsed or not. A lack of talent I can live with, but a lack of effort is unforgivable.

He played well last preseason and went downhill from there...

I'm gonna put my neck on the line and say that Coyle will get the best out of Petrov this season, and he'll start to turn opinion around.

 

(A caveat to this is that I'm off work today, and have started drinking early... )
