I think Coyle will really try and keep Cahill now and I think we should!

 

Give him a new contract and tie him in to another 3 years, and lets try and push on this season. With the addition of Ngog, Tuncey, NRC, Eagles, hopefully SWP, we could make a real impact this year, with quite a decent squad.

 

Against QPR I thought defensively we looked ok even with Gretar in. I would have no confidence bringing Wheater into the team, infact I think it would throw the spine of the team out completely.

I think we should (and will) only keep Cahill if he signs a new contract. If he doesn't go in August then he'll be off in Jan for around the ?4m mark I reckon, unless he signs a new contract inbetween.

Oh he was probably going to be a liability at the back if QPR had ever got out of their own half. That they didn't was dead lucky, nothing to do with having a good defence. And Cahill, get back you knob head! You're a defender, you shouldn't be so high up the pitch!

A great idea, but no way will Cahill be wanting to sign any nw contract, he knows if he walks away on a free next year he'll be earning mega, mega bucks and will probbaly beable to pick which of the top 4 teams he wants to join

Wheater was poor when he played last season....way behind in pace and was resorting to pulling shirts cos he couldnt keep up. Knight is far better than Wheater and in my opinion and has a good link up with Cahill.

Wheater was poor? Results when he played suggest otherwise.

wheater for me did tackle of the season last year. Away at wigan in the second leg of the FA cup. Clattered wigans striker so hard he did a flip before he hit the deck.

Every player on the pitch pulls shirts, Im not denying that, but doing it quite obviously becuase you can't keep up with play is ridiculous.

 

In my opinion Wheater is a weaker player than Knight and I have far more confidence with a Cahill/Knight pairing.

I'm happy to give Knight a run in the side i do think he is slowly getting better. I Did want to see Wheater at right back but after his shocker away at Blackburn last season that was the end of that idea but then again it couldn't get any worse than Steinsson's performance away at Blackpool

why would cahill want to tie himself in for another 3 years?

 

no one has bid for him yet when he's available for around ?15m

 

he wants to leave and the only way to do that is to wait for a bid to come now, in jan or walk for free at the end of the season
