November 7, 201114 yr heard goughy on talkport earlier today mention his kids go to boarding school. now,i understand people have hectic lives and all,but i really dont get the idea of having children and then sending them away. whats the point in having kids?

November 12, 201114 yr Given a choice between sending kids to boarding school, or a modern urban comprehensive, I would view the boarding school option rather like sending kids to the countryside during the Blitz. Not ideal, but necessary and the loving thing to do.

What could be worse than a good school that gets good exam results, teaches kids discipline, and then isn't tax payer funded, even though those that do fund it all pay taxes (as in, really pay, rather than the majority of the population who claim out more than they put in). Worse still, they all have bursaries. What cunts.

All it teaches kids is that those who have money get treated better. and fails to prepare them for a life in the big wide world. The whole point in publicly funded education is to enable those who couldn't afford it under the old ways to better themselves and make money in the future to help their families. You really do follow tory dogma to the letter dont you?

I went to a Private School, I'm standing on my own two feet as I'm from a working class background. I got my first part time job at 14 and started paying "keep" at 16, I've worked constantly since then funding my way through College and Uni. Just because some Parents want their kids to have the best possible starts in life, it isn't a bad thing.

I'm only going off my personal experience I know 7 folk from my childhood who went of to various private schools 1 had a mental breakdown at 17 1 took all the drugs he was offered and fucked up his heart and now can't so much as drink a glass off coke 2 are a drug and drink addled jobless wonder 1 had a blow out with his family ran away from home and last i heard was living in a squat in germany 1 has been in and out of prison for various drug dealing and associated offences (he even went to a boarding school and provided the Tarquins and Jemimas with their fixes) 1 was working in accounts for Tetrapak last i spoke him all the professionals i know went to publicly funded schools
