Garrp Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I think the point is that now a fee has been agreed, everybody else will know what this is, and as such will offer the same. WHy would they offer more? As pointed out by Cassie, the only "bidding war" now would be for the wages on offer Yes but what if the Munichs want to give us 15 million out of the goodness of their heart Quote
SpiritofBurnden Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Chelsea have offered us one of their kids on a season-long loan next season plus the fee agreed for Cahill, i suspect that's one of the reasons we're keen to do business with them. Quote
Casino Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 So if we got a bid of ?10m from one of the Mancs, we can't accept it because we have given permission to Cahill to speak to Chelsea?? Rubbish why the fcuk would they offer more? I think the point is that now a fee has been agreed, everybody else will know what this is, and as such will offer the same. WHy would they offer more? As pointed out by Cassie, the only "bidding war" now would be for the wages on offer well, yes...i'd have thought taht obvious but hey ho, every day is a school day Yes but what if the Munichs want to give us 15 million out of the goodness of their heart and why wouldn't they Quote

TBH next season can get fucked. We need to do whats best for us right now so whoever offers most cash gets him imo. Quote
burndenpaddock Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I understand where you are coming from in that we have accepted a bid from Chelsea and it is just down to wages now. All I'm saying is that, as a club, haven't we got the right to get the best price for a player and if someone bids higher than 7 million, we don't just say no sorry we don't want that much, we only want what Chelsea have bid. Surely we have to consider it? Thought it was a bit like ebay and the highest bidder wins.. Quote
SpiritofBurnden Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 No club is going to offer more than Chelsea have. It's down to were the player wants to go and what else we can get out of it. Josh McChecran on loan for a season would be some consolation. Quote

The lad would get mullered in the centre of our midfield. Quote
Casino Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) thinking it through our only way of getting a better deal would be if cahill turned them down then, and only then could we have a 'war' we've agreed to sell to chelsea for ?x IF cahill wants to join them thers probably a date by which the deal has to go through, mind if it doesn't, then we can negotiate with other parties Edited January 9, 2012 by Casino Quote

BWFC_LOVE Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I noticed that Boyata was on the bench Saturday, but no sign of that Mark Connolly chap we paid a million for thanks to Chris Evans poaching him. He's captain of the reserves and apparently out of contract in the summer. Anyone who watches the reserves; is he not good enough or what? Quote

If Connolly is behind Knight, Wheater and Boyata in the pecking order I would suggest that means he simply isn't good enough. If his contract is up at the end of the season I would expect he'll be off elsewhere Quote
jayjayoghani Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 If we're doing recon on the reserves, how's Tom Eaves doing? Thought he was lined up to replace Kevin Davies? - the "big unit upfront" in Atkinsonspeak Quote
