she has to be sacked

Nah, sacking would only occur with press pressure, and the BBC won't apply any in a case like this - they're already happily spreading her 'out of context' bullshit.

The real joke if her defending the concept of community leaders. No one would be stupid enough to apply that term to a white community, but Diane and her ilk make a very nice career of perpetuating the idea that they represent the united block of all black people.

It's not the first time, actually it's not even the second time.

Is she racist? I'm not sure. She certainly shouldn't be. Does she not think before she speaks/types? Definately.

Love the BBC article saying there are claims the tweet were racist. Claims!

The dictionary definition of racism is...

"belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races"

So ascribing a negative charactistic to all white people without discrimination (geddit) is unequivocally racist. Some might say it's an example of how the negative conotations of words can race ahead of their technical definitions, but it's illuminating to see who gets the benefit of that, and who doesn't.

One of the most pernicious trends at the moment is to take a word with strongly negative connotations, tweak the technical meaning whilst retaining the connotations, and thus use the word as a brush to paint that connotation all over areas which do not deserve it. Cross reference, (relative) poverty.

Not acceptable. Whilst we are here, as a white middle class liberal I find the "N word" offensive whether a white or a black person says it, don't buy all the "I can say it because I am" line at all.

On that topic...

As per the Stephen Lawrence report, 'a racist incident is any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person.'

I find it worrying a judge could reach such a monumentally stupid decision. In fact, I consider his creation of this definition a racism incident. And thus it is.

I'm off to get some ice cream. Please nobody perceive it to be a racist incident, as I'm rationing myself to 3 per day.
