i was just passing there, good job i read this.

unfortunatley i know have 3 pts for using my phone whiles driving.

nazi's!

They get you as you come under burnden bridge heading out of town.

One of my first jobs at the council was putting in the little platform on Raikes Lane bridge that the van parks on.

Therefore you'll know where the lever is to operate the trapdoor. Let us all know.

i'm told that the majority of the time the 3 fixed cams on the 666 aren't in use

means i'm wasting my time doing the old 80/50/80/50/80/50/80 routine

I'll test all three this weekend

80 all the way

i knew some idiot gent would offer

let us know how it goes

Whenever I turn out into the Farnworth area, particularly the side of farnworth around the Kearsley roundabout, I manage about 70 along St Peter's Way. I rarely get a flash from the camera. If I did the same in a car you can bet it'd get me every time.

The one heading into Horwich around what was Victoria Mill is always going off so definately one to avoid being silly as you drive through.

Even so, some go off and have no film in, so it's a gamble.

Do what I do.

Borrow a friends car then drive around Bolton as fast as you can whilst making a note of all the working cameras.

Job done!

Few months ago I was a passenger in a car coming round Bury towards Bolton just after Tesco. The flash went off but four months later he heard nothing.

that's the one.

In 2004 my mate "borrowed" a car from the company he worked at and drove us to Cardiff to the Boro game.......

There was no way for the car to be traced to him and he was leaving the company the next week.

We left Carlisle at bang on 3AM and were sitting in a Mcdonalds car park at 5.55AM waiting for it to open at 6 plus we had a fuel stop.

it's exactly 300 miles... it was a Laguna sport and was flat out all the way

every camera we passed flashed.

fuck knows why we rushed though, there was nothing to do for fuckin hours until the pubs opened

Was on St Peters Way tonight and didn't see them but did a straight 50 all the way to the motorway .

I remember the fuckers had a camera set up on the road leading to the M50 after the cup final.........

On Hulton Lane at the St.Helens rd end

in a van 30 mph limit

I can confirm after my trial run that none of these are working

They really p me off how they sit on a dual carriageway that used to be 70 yet there's no police to be seen on Bolton road through kearsley when there's some toss bag doing 50 in a 30!!

Revenue making rather than improving road safety methinks

Didn't Moss Bank Way used to be National Speed Limit?

for who?

i prefer to see it as punishing those who break the law. =@

Bloody hell, that's a while ago. It also used to be a dual carriage way too, you know like ring roads usually are.

Sure someone said to me once that;

One flash - you're ok, no film in

Two flashes - you've had it. Takes two pics to measure your speed over a distance

Not sure if that's true or not.

in the older style ones, with normal film, two flashes once you set the camera by travelling at speed towards it, then the picture is examined, at the time elapse between the two flashes, each of the white lines painted on the road represents 5mph, on examination, 6 lines behind your car and your fine, 7 and your fcked, if they can read the reg that is. That's also how they determine which car was speeding when two go through at the same time on two lane road, one speeding and one not.

newer ones are digital and are linked directly to computer, but some are timed just be in operation at certain periods.

the next generation, apparently due out next year, will take your picture, send you a text/email telling you you've been done and either ask for your bank details by reply or inform you of the amount they have just debited from your account details you have previously provided!then a letter informing you of your points/choice of speed awareness course.

edit: the 6 and 7 measurement is for 30mph, obviously changes higher the speed limit.
