He really isn't coming out of this well is he?

Going down.

Before all this started, I did wonder if my burning hatred for this twat was, well a bit unhealthy.

Reading this thread has made me realise it's perfectly normal - cheers everyone.

And yeah, he's surely going down.

the only thing that will stop him going down is if his "i'm just a happy go lucky cockney fool" act rubs off an a happy go lucky jury full of cockney fools

I'm in no way a tax lawyer but I'm not sure he is going down

http://www.hmrc.gov....e-penalties.htm

There will be three new levels of penalty:

  • where the income or gain arises in a territory in 'category 1', the penalty rate will be the same as under existing legislation
  • where the income or gain arises in a territory in 'category 2', the penalty rate will be 1.5 times that in existing legislation - up to 150 per cent of tax
  • where the income or gain arises in a territory in 'category 3', the penalty rate will be double that in existing legislation - up to 200 per cent of tax

Monaco is Category 3.

His offences are previous to this new legislation but the link says these penalties are enhanced anyway.

I have a feeling he may get off having heard what the judge said in his summing up.

He really did try and sway the jury that they were nice blokes.

Bollocks!

Milan Mandric not guilty

Redknapp Not guilty

fookers

Wankers, both got off with it.

Capello to be sacked anytime.

Harry's a shoe in

We really should get legal experts in for these specialised cases, and not laymen. i.e. tax experts, fraud specialists who have a clue about whats going on.

The judge said it had to be unanimous, which is bollocks and I now owe Gonzo some money, which is even more bollocks.

I demand a retrial with a decent judge.

good news for the soon to be vacant England managerial role

how can at least one of them not be not guilty?

how can at least one of them not be not guilty?

did you hear the judges summing up last night?

It had to be unanimous, the judge said both were good men of good character blah blah. How can the judge make such a statement is beyond me.

Why is no one questioning HMRC's role in this fiasco? Millions of pounds of tax payers money pissed away on a pointless show trial . They need to get their priorities right, stop chasing headlines and focus on getting big businesses to pay what they owe.

and cos theyre doing that, already

They reckoned wrong then didn't they?

When can we expect to see Philip Green in court then?

That's what I thought last night. Utterly ridiculous statements from that judge.

Does he know them?

There's a difference between tax evasion and avoidance

There's a difference between tax evasion and avoidance

I know. Tax avoidance is more difficult to prosecute, which is presumably why HMRC think that staging a show trial is a better use of tax payers money than closing loopholes in the law which allow someone to put all their assets in their wife's name and pack her off to Monaco...
