February 10, 201214 yr My mate is good friends with sammy( use to be a football liaison for wanderers and Blackburn) and they met yesterday before sammy went meeting gartside about the youth team job. He said he has signed as director of coaching and starts Monday.... Happy days imo
February 10, 201214 yr The club is appointing Lee as its part of the FA re categorisation apparently of what? ginger scouse dwarfs?
February 10, 201214 yr perhaps, though i expect its more to do with the future of our clubs youth policy
February 10, 201214 yr Little Sam is a great coach, so surely, this is a great appointment? I just can't help but feel there will be a rocking of the boat that will need managing well. 1. Who's he in to coach? The other coaches? the academy? the reserves? the first team squad? all of the above? 2. Surely coaches coach tactics, formations, set plays etc, that the manager is wanting? If so we'll still have 11 in the box at corners & still be second to the ball & second to the second ball, oh joy of joys !! I'm only a poor wee terracite, but I'd like to know what the craic is here? Other than my usual early pessimism, I still think this is a positive move towards 'The Plan' that has been mentioned before by Garty/Coyle. Just keep him away from the managers job please.
February 10, 201214 yr If Owen had got the results and performances Sammy had in his short managerial career he would still be in a job, there where lots of positives in his last match in charge against Chelsea
February 10, 201214 yr I thought Sammy Lee would have turned out a decent manager - I think his major downfall was trying to change things too quickly with the majority of players that played Sam's game. Won't begrudge him back on the coaching staff - can only be a "positive", life is looking rosy under Owen and Sammy - not a negative in sight. Edited February 10, 201214 yr by Walkden26
February 11, 201214 yr not a negative in sight. Don't worry, Diddles or anewman will be a long in a bit to fix that.
February 11, 201214 yr I don't care what his role is, but on day one he needs to tell the other coaches (especialy defensive) they're doing it wrong. Then put it right.

Who's he in to coach? The other coaches? the academy? the reserves? the first team squad? all of the above? All of the above at Ping Pong. Gartside is getting worried that OC keeps beating everyone and this is destroying the morale of the players. It's a little known fact that Sammy Lee was once England under 5 foot Ping Pong Champion. February 11, 201214 yr Don't worry, Diddles or anewman will be a long in a bit to fix that. can't fault sammy lees coaching ability maybe he cant hack the management style of the business with the important decisions to make, but the man has some outstanding coaching experience
February 11, 201214 yr Seems like a good progressive move to me. Out of interest, does anyone know why Liverpool let him go in the summer?(apart from Dalglish being a twat)
February 11, 201214 yr Kenny, wanted Clarkey as his number 2, they bought kevin keen in as coach so no room left for little sam
