Wankers!

My son was offered a job a week ago starting today. Last Wednesday they contacted him to say start next Monday instead to avoid having an extra week to wait for payday.

This morning he contacted 6th form college to say he would be leaving to take up this apprenticeship.

This afternoon his new employers have changed their mind and there is now no apprenticeship. Fucking tossers!

For the record, the company is Tribune ICT in Bolton. Anybody know who ought to be the recipient of the human turd?

Anyone got any employment opportunities for a 16 year old?

that fucking bang out.

did the fuckers give a reason?

I'm no legal eagle but did they confirm anything to him in writing?

Doubt your Son has a leg to stand on legally but I'm sure a letter to the local rag won't go amiss considering he has voluntarily left education after receiving a solid offer...

we went through a similar situation at my place. we had offered 6 people a start date at the end of jan just before christmas. when we got nearer to there start date, sales had fallen off more than we expected and we didnt really need them..

though they had technically not started, we had offered them a job in pricipal legellay we where adivsed that they would have a good case in court if they challeneged us. we had to take them on and in induction make them redundant (with a 30 day consultation) which wasnt nice at all.

If he was offered the role in writing i would advise to check his rights as although he hasnt actually started he has more rights than you would think.

There is also the moral issue of fcuking someone about like that and they should be doing the right and fair thing which isnt what they have done

Also-what proffesion is he in as i have a mate who sorts apprentiships for young people in college, i can see if he knows of any apprentices which may be good for you lad.

The offer was made via a commerse training establishment. We have emails confirming employment.

The reason they gave was that someone has resigned from the company and therefore the need for an apprentice has gone. (I don't understand this bit!)

The person who phoned from the training group was livid. She reckons this is the first time a client of hers has ever got this close to starting someone before pulling the rug. She advised me not to contact the company myself until all other avenues have been explored but, believe me, expect Tribun's name to be sullied in the local press. The Bolton News do love a hard luck story.

I may phone the company HQ first. They're in that there London. It prides itself on the reputation it has built up over the last 18 years.

Start saving your turds men, I'll send some jiffy bags and stamps.

I've got a carrier bag thats 3/4 full of phlegm that i was saving for a special occasion, but it's yours if you need it.

seeing as you can fcuk anybody off in the first 12 months of employment, i'm not sure why you had to go through all that pissing about?

I can help, have to be 18 to be on site, well you can get on younger but have to supervised at all times ie he couldnt walk around site on his own

Bloody hell, I was up your neck of the woods watching my daughter play football on Sunday morning. (At Haslingden St Mary's)

I could have popped round for it. I presume your choice of bag is one without the waste-of-space holes in them.

Save it for a couple of weeks, I may call upon your more than generous offer.

I have some spare presents from Daisy if you want, Michael.

Based on the experience of the solicitor and the letter of the law we felt it the safest thing to do to avoid possible court action. We also felt that morally it was the only fair thing to do as well...it wasnt there fault our sales forecast was pissing in the wind.

Im just pointing out that as the employee you have rights even before you get a job and its always worth investigating....always a chance of an out of court settlement becuase they cant be arsed with the press.

Your employment rights for the first 12 months are as great as Chris Eagles' tackling ability

If I was you I'd get a new solicitor

and that concludes the evidence for the prosecution :)

unless of course your apprentices could show they were being treated ubfairly due to their age, sex, race or disability etc etc

which wouldn't appear to be the case

I realise that a prospective worker has no employment law protection. Ben Der's case was probably caused by a moral obligation rather than a contractual one.

GMC Fire Service got to within two weeks of a training course which was to start in Jan 2011. (Could have been Jan 2010) All tests, medicals and interviews concluded; all acceptance letters sent out. The lucky recipients of the acceptance letters then told their current employers they were leaving to join the Fire service.

The course got cancelled due to cutbacks, all potential recruits were sent a letter of apology.

I'm thinking that out HR department would know what can and can't be done to keep the right side of the law.

I recently recruited new staff

Spent loads of money on licences for software, new equipment etc etc not to mention weeks of interviewing; a lengthy induction and loads of training all day yesterday

Then we get a no show on her 2nd day

I also will now have lost out on my 2nd / 3rd choice for the role as they'll be off the market

Do I get the money spent back off her?

if he did actually have a picture of her or had felt her breasts,id suggest thats why she was a no show on her second day!

:D

I save that for day 3

piece of advice from my old man. Dont burn your bridges yet....or your sons bridges.

maybe a polite letter to the MD of this firm explaining how put out your son is by there local branch managers actions.

Just thinking the bag o shite/ bad publicity/press way forward could bite him back as firms chat to each other(freemasons- local commerce - rotary clubs) especially with regards to stinking post bags.

Maybe let your lad put it down to bad experience.......most of us have had at least one letdown.Learn and move on i say.

If not Ive a healthy daily supply of foul baby nappys that`ll fit nicely in a A4 jiffy bag.

The training agency are busy dealing with this on my (my son's) behalf. I have had to go to lad's 6th form college to grovell for his place back and have had to assure them he won't be doing the same each time he gets a job.

Once the training agency have done their bit I will be writing to their head office to let them know what's going on in their branches. You never know, they might even offer him a job in London so he can stop fucking sponging off me.

really? I was about to post "can he not just go back to college"? It's not as if there's someone waiting to take his place is there - can't imagine it would be that much hassle given it's all happened in 24 hours?

  • Author

No hassle but they won't stand for him to keep looking for jobs and fucking off again. They pretty much said this would be the last time he'd be allowed to return.
