February 28, 201214 yr Traf I want a week away in June. I've never really had a package holiday and never fancied t'egypt. However, I just want a week away with no aggro ie. get on a plane, sit on me arse for a week and not carry much cash. I've got a 5 year old who needs entertaining. What's yer advice?
February 28, 201214 yr 4 or 5 star all inclusive will work out cheaper than the eurozone. Guaranteed sunshine too. The hotel staff are all great with kids too.

February 28, 201214 yr Mate, the dry heat alone is worth going to Egypt. Look on Tripadvisor for the best hotels within your budget and you can't go far wrong.

I went last June and spent a week sitting on my arse - on the fucking toilet shitting through the eye of a needle. I asked around before going and found feedback 50/50 - 50 love it and 50 hate it due to the Egypt belly. I lost a stone in weight out there and will never go again. Know of folk who have been ill for months afterwards. Having the shits on a 5 hour flight home is horrible, was bad for 2 weeks when I got home as well. Feces in the water / food apparently. February 28, 201214 yr I didnt get bad guts, but won't hurry back. I've been to a lot of countries, some proper backward, but have never been meithered more than in Egypt. They seem to have a thing about fat blonde birds. #Uncomfortable (I think that's what down with it folk say). .

Smiley & Bigtoe have also been, so don't just take my word for it. Loads of bars/restaurants to choose from: all-inclusive, of course. Kids Club is great: 10am to 12.30 and 3 till 5 in the afternoon. February 29, 201214 yr i went to taba at the end of december, stayed at the raddisson blu. lovely big hotel with its own beach. the staff were fantastic couldn't do enough for you, never really got bothered by shop keepers.
February 29, 201214 yr We did the Aqua Blu about 18 months ago, really enjoyed it. We went in October so the weather was just right. Like Traf says, the main attraction is the water park, and it is superb. You'd pay ?50 a day for a family to get in a place like this. No worries with the food, several restaurants to use, plenty of choice. Lamb chops off the BBQ - belting. Daughter loved it, made loads of pals. Agree with the night entertainment, but to be honest after the kids club disco and the follow up show, the she was worn out, so we took drinks back to the room. We had a a room in the smaller blocks across from the main entrance, clean, modern and quiet. Get ready for morning and evening prayers being belted out from the mosque over the road, flipfloptastic.

So I'm a snob. If there are scousers there (they get everywhere on benefits) then football shirts will be. Its unfortunate. Surely Thomas Cook et al could sell exclusive hotels i.e. 5*, 3 pools, all inclusive, beach side, scouse free.

March 1, 201214 yr For those of you without bin lids I would recommend the Makadi Palace resort in Hurghada. Three different hotels / sites, very good standard restaurants, beach, pool and rooms .. We went in Nov 2010 - temp 25 plus ... Didn't leave the resort for the whole week and managed with just one day of the shits. Will defo be going back at some stage.
March 2, 201214 yr Been 3 times. Jan - Taba Heights, Inter-Continental. Very chilled out resort. Emphasis on eating! Easy to get to Jordan, Israel & Cairo from here. Weather was hit & miss. Feb - Sharm, Sheraton. Amazing huge private beach. Hotel & village here is huge, but has had its better days. Food tip-top. Weather was warm without being silly. May - Sharm, Aquablu. Emphasis on eating, swimming, waterslides, chilling out on 4 poster sunbeds. Gondola rides, etc, etc. great place for kids/families. Seriously lacks entertainment - but we could live without that. Daughters said its best holiday they've ever had. Weather was el scorchio - day & night! In 21 days there only got a dicky belly one day - and convinced that was from a Chinese restaurant in a shopping mall. Had far worse illness staying in 5-star Costa Adeje hotel.
March 3, 201214 yr Mrs CWP and myself are considering going to Egypt in September (just after the kids go back to school) - we will only be there for a week. Where is best to go, where we won't be surrounded by scruffy Chavs and poor people? Is there any merit in booking it all myself of going on a package? - as a rule I don't like booking package holidays as it costs far more than it ought, but will I actually save that much if I book independently?
