RAC to the rescue. Estimated time, 1.5 hours. Great.

I've been having trouble last couple of weeks. Car with spanner symbol has been on for the past week and the car has STANK of fuel after driving. Also the engine has cut out a number of times while in traffic or at the lights.

Took it to garage on Sat. They said fuel filter is knackered and hence the stench of fuel. They changed it, ?25. Job done so they said.

Hate cars I do.

The only thing my ex wife said she learnt from me was if you hear something wrong with the engine, turn radio up.

Modern engines are just great.........till they go wrong.

Whatever you do,don't go to the main dealers for any diagnostics/work - they're just rip off merchants

Do a search on here for a recommended garage.

Keep on top of recommended service schedules and you would not get a blocked fuel filter!!

MIne came on a few weeks back. Car seemed to be running absolutely fine. Thought it best to get it checked out, but no fcuking way was I taking it to SEAT or VW. Took it to my local garage Chorley Street Garage and they plugged it into their diagnostic machine thingy. Turns out the brake swtich had gone. Charged me ?60 for part and labour. If I'd gone to a main dealer I'd have got charged at least that just for labour.

Geoff at CSG is a top fella. It's a huge weight off your shoulders when you know you're not going to be ripped off.

?25 to change a fuel filter?

Foooooooooooooooooooook me!!!!! I hope they were wearing masks!

My dad taught me that one too! :good:

a proper dealer wanted ?1800 to fix an engine warning light on the wifes car last week, diagnostic, new nox sensor, injector coils (or something) & spark plugs

i didnt even have to ask and they said, "seeing as the cars only done 60k, we'll fix it under extended warranty, even though you dont have one.

a local specialist would have prob only charged ?900 to do it, but would have had to have paid it.

no arguments from me.

Back in work. Turns out I had a malfunctioning crankshaft sensor. ?37 for the repair/replacement. Seems oreet to me.

I haven't a clue when it comes to cars.

Taking it in for a full service on Saturday. Been quoted ?132 inclusive of VAT. Good or bad price?

depend on their definition of 'FULL'

im guessing oil/filter change, and a few checks for things they can charge you for

Personally i'd just get an oil and filter change done at Equipe on Manny Rd, they'll also check all your fluid levels and top-up if needed - about ?45 inc Vat.

They use Valvoline semi synthetic oil anarl :good:

Not bad for a full service on your Bentley........

Nah, that's not bad in all seriousness but like BB said, you could go cheaper, though remember they're not a small local garage, just part of a large franchise.....

Just 8 or 9 North West branches - hardly KWIK FIT is it?

Always found them decent to deal with.

I'll also add my endorsement for equippe, used to do all my own repairs/ maintenance, but for what they charge for doing stuff it's not worth the hassle for me now. never been ripped off at one of their places and bare in mind they don't know if i know nowt or owt about cars or not, every time I have been there the faults have been diagnosed spot on and repairs charged reasonable enough for me to think it's not worth me f?cking around on a Sunday doing it myself.

took a few to other similar sorts, that apparently "fit things quicker", can guarantee, go in for , say shocks, they'll try and tell you your brake pads need changing or the back shocks need doing. I just tell them to f?ck off, but I wonder how many pay for needless work with them.

never had any of that with equippe, both the manny road one and the one in Astley been spot on.
