Reet got back yesterday neet after 5 neets in Anglesey, 10 of us rented a house in Trearddur Bay, took the dogs too. Never thought about going to Anglesey but really enjoyed it for walks with the dog and all that, did Newborough Forest walk, Rhoseneiger Beach. Twas alreet too, Got me thinking of decent places to go in Great Britian any recommendations?

I thought you where all camp enough so I've changed the title of the thread. Anyroad it's holidays in GB indoors our out.

Off here with the missus in May, i know its veggie but it looks top notch.

The missus is veggie so the no meat thing wont bother me, i just wanted somewhere swish and this place came highly recommended through a guy at work.

As for camping, did it for the first time last year, and we (three) enjoyed it

 

Never thought I'd go for it, but if you buy a decent tent like an Outwell and not an Asda special, and buy some proper kit to take along, you can have a good time. I even have a tent carpet, thats right, a carpet made for a tent.

 

Anyway, whats better than waking up in the morning with a massive hardon cos you didnt want to go for a piss in the middle of the night, with sea views on one side, snowdon on the other and a few sheep in the next field giving you the come to bed eyes, as the waft of sizzling bacon drifts through the air?

we camped out in our big 8 man tent and nobody cared it was so big.only charged us for a 2 man tent.

 

there is an all night bus to and from newquay too which is good.

 

some excellent beeches and walks around, and plenty on camp if you with kids.

 

definitely going back when my daughter is a bit older.

In ?99 we took our kids to a campsite in Devon to watch the lunar eclipse, massive field with just a few pitches round the edge for tents and caravans and the middle completely empty.

6 man tent the first year, then over the years ended up with a small caravan, large awning with bedroom extensions and a couple of gazebos for good measure. Electrics upgraded so they didn?t trip out when the kettle was turned on and satellite TV, which in a way spoilt it a bit.

BBQ?s, beers and satellite spotting in the evening and, with good weather, total relaxation without having to worry about where the kids were or them pestering for money. Only recall 2 really bad years weather wise.

We're in a yurt right now. 5 of us (ok, me, Mrs Cure & 3 kids) and it's bloody great! The logburners on, I've got ale flowing and the kids are knackered from running about all day.

 

Loads to do and not far from the seaside, went to the fleet air arm museum yesterday and it was magic!

 

Wonderful clear sky tonight and up on the Blackdown Hills in Devon I've never seen so many stars!

 

We came last November for the carnival finales and we'll be coming back in November for them and the tar barrels this year.

 

No leccy, no gas, patchy tinterweb and mobile signal-bliss!

 

Hot water from their own borehole and woosburner, cooking on the woodburner inside the yurt is great too.

 

Highly recommended, cheap and friendly folks too.

Not too far from where we go near Woodbury. Never been down in November but have friends we met down there who live in Ottery now.

 

We get some light pollution from Exeter but the stars are truly amazing compared to up here.
