Reet got back yesterday neet after 5 neets in Anglesey, 10 of us rented a house in Trearddur Bay, took the dogs too. Never thought about going to Anglesey but really enjoyed it for walks with the dog and all that, did Newborough Forest walk, Rhoseneiger Beach. Twas alreet too, Got me thinking of decent places to go in Great Britian any recommendations?

We rented a house up Solway the other week. It was piss funny, the people were lovely if a little slow. I would imagine it'd be good for dog walking on the beaches.

Ingleton used to be a favourite walking spot. Specifically Beezely Falls and Thornton Force.

Make sure, if camping, that your campsite owner allows open fires and barbecues. We didn't.

side farm in patterdale, great campsite by lake ullswater. 10 minute walk into village with 2 or 3 pubs , fantastic setting and you can do the walk upto hellvelyn.

Bays Brown Farm @ Chapel Stile, smack bang in the Valley. It's cheaper than the NT one but still got decent facilities and some great walking / mountain biking.

the nt one is perfectly sited for staggering from the old dungeon ghyll after six pints of ale though!!

For the record, camping in tents is for fools. I don't mind sleeping under the stars as long as there's 5 of em.

I actually quite enjoyed it when I went, though to be fair, it was July in Norfolk & cracking the flags. The thought of it raining or being less than 20 degrees at any point and I'd be straight in the car booking into a hotel.

Camping should be something done as a necessity, ie at a music festival, and you can simply stagger into your tent at night and fall into a coma ... before waking up and cracking open a cold Stella (cold because it's been in your tent all night).

 

Quite why anyone would do this as a holiday baffles me - especially in England where the likelihood is everything will get wet.

 

... and if you're stopping in a house/villa/caravan then that's not camping.
