Would we be hedging our bets if we got Paul Benson of Swindon?

Good player, does get the odd Lucky Strike every now and then which comes in useful

rightyho, these following ones are absolute BULLSHIT and stolen from another site, they will certainly make you smile though............

Chungy -- on his way to west ham for ?6.5MILLION - NOT A CHANCE !!

Stu Holden - to Norwich for ?4.5 million - again,not a chance.

I think i started the whole thread with the mention of Owen Hargeaves - now seeing as he is now looking for another club, what are you thoughts on that one ?

Worth a punt or not ?

ps - the rhys williams one - no chance of that happening

Why not? Because we've enough bench warmers.

You were taking the piss though, weren't you? :)

No piss take at all.

He'll be offered a a pay as you play deal, which i stated originally................and the bit i did take the piss with, was we wouldn't be paying much in wages in that case

You honestly think he'll take a pay-as-you-play deal in the Championship? Get real mate. He can get pay-as-you-plays wherever he wants, he'll be wanting a proper contract because he knows exactly how injury prone he is.

i don't think for one minute he'd take that offer, but i can't see him getting a contract anywhere. a move to stoke or qpr etc on pay as you play is the best he could get.

he wouldn't last ten minutes in the championship

16 million for a sub, errm.

He will play more than Evra, we have had this discussion before, when I told you United wanted Baines.....!!!

The United fans are not over the moon with Evra, PLUS you need more than 1 left back.

If they don't play Evra, they'll just use Fabio, Baines may be better at freekicks than Evra, but they have Rooney, Nani and Giggs for them.

If they're gonna spend, it'll be for a Sneijder type.

Regardless of what you think, United want Baines, and they are in talks now with us. Baines is a better / consistant / experienced player than Fabio AND Rafael....United must think this too, as they have wanted him for over 12 months.

He's alright Baines, but not in Evra's league, won't play ahead of A.Cole for England either. If I was United and wanted another good left back, I'd look at Madrid's 2 left backs and see if they'll be willing to sell one.

Evra's been pretty poor (by his previously high standard) for the last season and a bit. Yes, he's still good going forward, but defensively he seems to get caught the wrong side a lot these days. He's also a cunt ... and that's nothing to do with the colour of his skin.

Fabio and Rafael aren't good enough.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Baines playing for the scum next season.

Signing Baines isn't going to make them any better really, certainly not a player that'll give them the edge in a title race, Evra may lack height and get's outjumped, but for United quick flowing football, Evra's perfect for this, teams like them can get away with less defensive wing backs.

You see, this is were you naivity comes into play. United need a head start this year, and they need player to hit the ground runnig, Baines will actually cost less that the Madrid full backs, and how do we even know they will fit into this league ??

Tried and tested full back is Baines, that has out performed Cole AND Evra in the Prem, for 3 years. (Check Assist and number of games etc )

So, for around ?16 Million, your getting one of the most consistant players in the prem. That is a steal. And you know he will play more for England once he is at United.

He as been good, he never lets them down in big games.

BUT, he was shite like the whole Chelsea defense for large parts of this season, and for the couple of years before he was not his usual best. I think its pretty obvious Baines has been the best left back in England for awhile now. He needs a step up to a big club, to tes he is THAT good.
