May 26, 201214 yr its a friendly before a tournament it aint ever going to be pretty in the slightest, It'll have no bearing on the finals, both Germany and Holland lost today, just wanna see better football under a new manager.
May 26, 201214 yr Tedious & sloppy after a bright opening. Didn't expect much but most of these players are supposed to be warming up to play a role in the Euros which start in a couple of weeks, not winding down for a holiday. Downing & Walcott ............. what's the point of them.
May 27, 201214 yr Walcott is stealing a living on one attribute, pace, he is championship quality. The frustration with walcott is that every so often you thinks he's got his act together and he plays really well, then he's shit again for 15 games. Although him setting up Van Persie was the best link up in the BPL last season.
May 27, 201214 yr A forerunner of Hodgson as England manager; competent, functional, boring, win You may be right ................ but "competent, functional" is being extremely generous for that 2nd half.
May 28, 201214 yr Walcott is stealing a living on one attribute, pace, he is championship quality. 8 goals 8 assists in the PL this season. Barry Ruled out of the euros. jagiekla in.
May 28, 201214 yr If we have Parker fit, we don't need Barry. We have other mids too. Think Walcott is better than some people make out, that hat-trick v Croatia raised expectation. Edited May 28, 201214 yr by Didledee
May 28, 201214 yr If we have Parker fit, we don't need Barry. We have other mids too. yeah but thats a big If seeing as hes had problems with Achilles, losing barry is a big blow IMO
May 28, 201214 yr He's alright Barry, but he doesn't fill me with confidence, so left footed and doesn't look technically good, but he's done well at City in the run in. It'll probably be Parker, Lampard and Gerrard with Young and Walcott playing off Welbeck.
May 28, 201214 yr I'd go with that, although I'd be more tempted to go with carroll and i think hodgson will.
May 28, 201214 yr Probably but I really want us to play a more fluent style, quick wingers, quick strikers, when Rooney comes back, go 4-4-2, Carroll did okay v Norway, but with him, the temptation for long ball is there, France are better than us with the ball, so maybe we'll try and get advantage with height from set-pieces. Probably need a different manager to play the way I'd like.
May 28, 201214 yr problem is with an international tournament unless you have an exceptional team i.e spain/brazil you cant go gung-ho and need to keep hold of the ball and be patient so a big front man who can hold the ball up will be good plus get the right people on the flanks and put those balls in and carroll should bury them.
May 28, 201214 yr Well he'll need to take the chances that missed in the 4th minute v Norway, I agree with you tbh, v Norway for me we were far too wide, I'd like players more compact and narrow, our play was dimensional, 10 yard passes towards the full backs/wingers, less passing interchange football through the middle. But unless we have the players, we can't, think the future of Wilshere and Cleverly can though.
May 28, 201214 yr Norway was wide and the distribution was so flat and sloppy, for me Gerrard was too deep to have any real impact on the game. Downing isn't good enough or at least hasn't shown that he is and we'll end up putting a right footed winger on the left hand side which makes it narrow . Hodgson has some thinking to do
May 29, 201214 yr Lampard and Gerrard should not play ion the same team, I thought we realised that about 10 years ago !!!
May 29, 201214 yr Get Milner and Parker as the 2 'holding' midfielders, both got unreal engines on them and can play a bit too. This gives the attacking 3 of the midfield (Young and Walcott wide, and Gerrard behind the striker) a lot of freedom to interlink and get forward. As for the striker, I'd have Rooney obviously when he gets back, and for me it would be Carroll for the 1st 2 games, I'm not really sure why but I think he might just shit a few foreign defences up. Hart Johnson Cahill Terry Cole Milner Parker Walcott Gerrard Young Carroll/Rooney when he's back That would be my team for the euros, with the possible exception of swapping Walcott for someone, just not sure who.

May 29, 201214 yr though i cant believe glen johnson is our best rightback. He's not, Micah Richards is...........but that's a whole different story
