How Are You With Money?

because i am am fookin useless...always have been.

normally in a relationship is it not the usually the woman that can fritter away cash as if your millionaires on a shopping spree?

i am nightmare,if i have a couple of scoops on a friday tea time,im an overnight millionaire, buying folks pints, tipping the bar staff,'comon chaps ill get the supllies in'! ill do in a fortune, then our peg kicks my head for how much ive spent...

its the main reason i have to drive to most games now, with money being pretty tight at the moment, especially after the introduction of the lad,i cant really afford to get a round in the ESL social club nowadays at ?25 a pop!

same with shopping,if go to the supermarket on my own ill spend twice what we need to.for instance yesterday,my task was to go to morrisions for a few bits for a tea and some yogurts for our lad, normally costing under a tenner....i ended up spending ?29.42! its like a demon takes over me and im not in control of my actions...came back with 2 big glass jars of fresh muscles and 2 tins of princess makarel amongst other stuff that took my fancy! ...theres only me in our house that eats fish! what a dick...

after ten years our peg has pretty much got me sorted as all my wages get paid in the 'joint' account and i just get my pocket money!..sounds hen pecked, but i insist its done this way!

i used to be shit with money in my teens, spending my money like i was rockefeller, pissin my wage on clothes booze and other items :shiftyninja: and going out on a Thursday night with a tenner after spending a fiver on going half on a bottle of vodka with a mate then waiting until midnight and go and withdraw ?60 because i have just been paid!

I'm really good now , i will plan out and budget at the beginning of the month and see what disposable income i have to spend after bills, holiday funds, mortgage deposit and even now rainy day savings.

to be honest the decision to do my degree and do coaching full time is really reaping the rewards. i have some mates who are shocking and up to their eyeballs in debt

I used to be awful, as did Mrs CWP and we ran up some debts when we were younger. We're both a lot better now, and now we actually have a good level of savings, we have some minor debts still, but these are on 0% and will be paid off within about 12 months, and then we'll be totally debt free (with the exception of the mortgage)

When we were younger we spent money like you wouldn't believe, we're far more sensible these days, although every now and then we'll have a bit of a splurge...........but only with cash from the savings, not on cards like we used to.

My down fall is Ebay. My Gaff has more snide crap that a tenerife sunday market.

eBay when pissed is a terrible thing...............

I'm not too bad, but a mate of mine always ends up ordering something when he gets home pissed ona Friday night.....it's usually jeans that he buys, and he ends up with all sorts of shapes and sizes as he never clicks on the right leg length or waist sizes, he's fucking useless :D

I'm fucking awful. I think I'm financially dyslexic or something. Transferring control over to my Mrs would probably be a good idea, especially seeing as we've just had a baby. I'm the type of spaz who never checks his balance and just keeps his fingers crossed at the cash machine when it's getting towards the end of the paid month.

Was very very careful for many many years.

In later life I've seen folk die young and thought - fuck it - here once, enjoy it while you can.

Email marketing is the killer for me.

Signed up to all the gig agencies and major venues....... the temptation always gets the better of me.

Groupon, Living Social, Vouchercloud, etc, etc..... I've spunked some money away on those sites.

Got a firepit and pop-up tent that have never seen the light of day..... but they were "must have bargains".

However, since I've cut the drinking back to virtually nothing in the last 12 months, I've been able to spend my money on more enjoyable stuff, been to more places, etc, etc. Alcohol has now become a huge a waste of money IMO. End of.

Saying that, my overdraft is always run up to the max each month.

This has just reminded me of something that really irks me....

I gt really annmoyed when the person in front of me at an ATM decides to print off a mini statement and then proceeds to study it, as though trying to work out if they can actually afford to draw anything out. Then they decide to draw just ?10 out and bugger off. I sort of understand why people do it, but it annoys me when I have to wait around for what seems liek an age, surely folk should have some idea if they have enough money in their bank prior to going to the cash point?!?

The bloke who lives across the road from me gace up drinking on NYE, he's not touched a drop since. He used to be a pretty heavy drinker, so he's done really well. Anyway, he reckons, like Smiley, that his life is far better now and he goes to more places, see's more stuff. He also reckons that alcohol is a massive waste of money.

Obviously, he's not convinced me yet, as I still love a good booze up

Other than a fortnight's over-indugence on holiday, I've not had a drink this year.

couples who have their own income, pay 50% of bills, then the rest is their own.

i even know of couples who split bills when eating out or on holiday.

I don't either, and I've plenty of friends who are like that.

We have a simple rule in our house. I pay for everything and what ever is left i get to keep, she pays for the cleaner and fuck all else, and the rest is for her to keep and/or fritter away on blouses and handbags

Not even a snifter of CdP? - you've changed!

After being charged a fortune by banks for going overdrawn, I set up a spreadsheet years ago. It's a bit geeky I know, but I literally know every penny coming in and going out. I haven't been charged for years.

Dont go as far as going dutch when socialising.........but the one and only time our maud gets access to my account is when they nail the lid down.

even then i will try to retrict full access.

Couples married or otherwise who chuck there cash in a pot are IMO financially clueless or have never had a missus fuck off and take said pot of cash with em......then inform a nasty faceless legal type to empty your pockets even more............................

Ah thats better.....breath easy james. you cant beat a good WW rant. Thanks.

im very far from being financially clueless.

i dont really spend a great deal on myself, neither does the wife to be fair.

ive no real interest in spending it either. she can have the lot. as log as she doesnt overspend.

all money goes on living expenses and the kids anyway.

I do exactly the same and have done for years now. Never been overdrawn and know exactly what I've got to spend at any time of the month.

It's not geeky, it's common sense if you ask me.

I've just got a text file with everything that goes in and out, I know pretty much to the penny what's in there. Never go overdrawn, check online pretty much every day, make sure everything is getting maximum interest.

I was terrible a few years back. Getting paid, blitzing it in one weekend then having 74p to last the next 4 weeks.

Soon changed and got wise. Even tighter now I live with the Mrs, she is worse than me so part of the agreement with us moving in together was getting a joint account and sticking half the bills in each. Which has worked until she treats it like Wonga then moans when she has to put more in when she gets paid!

Started sticking money away for the wedding at the moment so my first feelings of being "skint" for a while.

I use a spreadsheet with online banking as I keep as much as possible in interest bearing accounts, for what it's worth at the moment!

There used to be a thing called a budget account where you worked out all your regular payments for the year, divided by 12 and set up a transfer from your current account. You could go overdrawn on the budget account up to a certain amount without penalties. Presumably stopped as the banks made more from people going overdrawn.

Lot easier to manage finances these days with online banking, email and text notifications and alerts that warn you if you are about to go overdrawn.

Daughter has a notification set up that texts her every friday at 2:00pm so she knows how much she hasn't got for the weekend!

My bank have launched a business banking app but it only works on iphone at the moment, I feel myself being drawn to the dark side! :)

Funnily enough, did the spreadsheet thing for a while and you do keep on top of your spend.

Years ago we even went as far as a 2-month trial where me and mrs kept all our receipts for our outgoings. For the first time ever we didn't go overdrawn... which meant that neither of us had been coming clean on what we'd been spending on previously OR we simply weren't paying attention to what we were wasting money on.

I guess the only reason I'm currently overdrawn is that I've been hit with car & house insurance, MOT, service and main summer holiday deposit all within a month or so. Enough to fuck anybody over.

im very far from being financially clueless.

Not quite so OCD,but not far off.

Alcohol, a waste of money? I hope I never see it that way

I dread to think how much I spunked on drink, other things associated with that, clothes, taking women out, jollys etc in my 20's

I had a fucking great time though

I'm a lot more careful these days but I'm far from consistent; happy to pay for a good bottle of wine or a nice dish in a restaurant but 20p off summat in the supermarket and I get excited

I'll never "not spend" as i want to enjoy my life as i go on the journey but I'm continually saving these days; it's a nice feeling
