Knight had spells as a Bolton player when he was good. Latterly its gone downhill a bit, hence Wheater being selected more often than not. However the fact that he has frailties is compounded by a manager who picks formations that don't protect the central defenders very well.

Gary Cahill went from a defence leaking goals to being England's first choice CB and putting in a solid performance in the Champions League final in 5 months. I'm pretty sure the root problem isn't the actual players.
