Excitement - Interest Level

Gonna try and watch every game myself and probably put on bets to keep it more interesting.

I wouldn't usually tune in to watch a Poland v Greece game for example, but at major tournaments it's different, looking forward to it beginning, the opening ceremony, the anticipation with England, will or won't we turn up, watching some of world's great players competing against each other.

Hoping for lots of goals and memorable ones at that, the WC2010 took a while to get going and people were complaining about the vuvuzela's, wasn't the greatest tournament.

I'd say I'm at 9/10, It's great being a fan of football,

I think unless you are a lover of the great game rather than just a fan of bwfc you wont get it. Being a boot boy of the 70's could not understand my mates disinterest in the World Cup back then but it was a gang thing.

Eventually i understood but I still cannot accept it . For some its more about belonging than about the football. I suppose if the derogatory posters had ever followed England abroad they would have a different view.

After todays games and now its here and knowing Ill be on holiday for most of it - my excitement and interest has gone up massively. Looking forward to the big guns getting involved tomorrow!

The trips are as good as they ever were, the football spoils it for 2 hours

Do you actually go to the games these days, R? :D

There's a few where we've tossed a coin and not gone.

Probably the funniest was Berlin in an Irish bar with Mr. H, Widders et al. The locals really didn't "get" us.....

My 2 latest were Montenegro and Norway, in Monty I got as far as the ground and gave my ticket to a lad who had never been to an away game, and in Norway last week I watched it in a bar as my mate's nephew didn't have a ticket, if we get to the quarters my brother is having my ticket, I may go to the semi [if we get there] if we get to the final I'll see what's on offer ??????????

So basically, no :D

sounds like the jolly boys outing to prague 10 years ago when england were at slovakia. 32 went and only 2 bothered to go to bratislava. they were ticketless and put in a pen for hours and never saw anything................much to our amusement many hours later when they strolled into our hotel, pissed thru, pissed off and stone cold sober

Just in Scott's bar after the darts. Absolutely rammed, Andy Hamilton in the house. Everyone singing along to three lions on a shirt. Amazing. Well up for it now! We'll smash the lot of them!

England's bringing to cup home and the sweepstake money is mine!

ENGLAND ENGLAND ENGLAND

Im a sucker for these kind of tournaments to. Im just as excited as i was last time round when England didn't qualify. Fuck all this tribal bullshit its a beautiful game and this is one of it's biggest events.

Thought with less pressure on England we might have a chance but we just don't compare to the other big guns.

10/10 for excitement, 9/10 after the opening day.

Got a fiver on holland, fiver on poland and fiver on portugal. 20-1 on portugal is pretty good odds at the moment.

What face painting?

...paddy guiness hat tomorow eve.

I went to the same school as Paddy - although he and his boyfriend were a couple of year above me, I can confirm he was English and not a mick. Paddy also didn't swan around like he owned the place, unlike the tit out of Jossy's Giants - who thought he was the dog's bollocks in his 'Bergerac' style brown leather coat ;)
