July 17, 201214 yr Any of you lot doing it? Pal of mine is from round here, I wouldn't even do the bike ride let alone the marathon and swim
July 17, 201214 yr Fair play to anyone who attempts it, let alone finishes it. I'd like to do something like that one day. Alas, I fear that day will never come because I'm a lazy cunt.
July 17, 201214 yr http://www.theactivechannel.com/search/index.php?search=bolton&x=0&y=0 Footage from a previous year
July 17, 201214 yr The swimming had ventured to Leyth hadn't it? Think it still is. We're still shut 9.30 to 5.30 though.
July 17, 201214 yr Transporting the athletes personal bags to the half way point Hope it's not the half way point...that would be half way through the cycling
July 17, 201214 yr surprised there's never much TV coverage of this, hats off to any fucker who finishes it. reckon i could do the cycling and the running, but i'd drown int' wather.
July 17, 201214 yr Bloke goes bobbing past me last year, he's got no legs, no fucking legs. Now it can't be easy doing it with them things missing.
July 17, 201214 yr Bloke from work did Nottingham one in 12 hours 3 minutes. 5 minutes off last years time. He will be in town supporting at weekend.
July 17, 201214 yr My brother has done quite a few and has qualified for the World Ironman Championships in Hawaii in October. But before that he wears his first GB vest in the Long Distance World Triathlon championships in Spain a week on Sunday....think I will stick to the 5k Bolton parkruns.
July 17, 201214 yr To start - a 2.4 mile swim on Penninton Flash.....sounds reasonable enough but i bet it's harder than it sounds! Then 112 mile bike ride- three times around Horwich,Adlington,Rivvy,Belmont,Abbey village,Wheelton,Euxton etc etc ....sounds like a right b'stard ( 3 times up Sheephouse lane ffs? - that goes from Rivvy over the tops towards Belmont ). Then a 26.2 mile run finishing in front of Bolton town hall, with the leaders coming in around 2 - 2.30pm. Hats off to anyone who completes this course - even those that finish at 11 pm. July 17, 201214 yr Talking to the guy from work, the one problem with Bolton is the transition from bike o run, as ou have to go collect your stuff after you've finished. Sure it's the last thing you want to do after 12 hours effort. He does the marathon in 4 1/2 hours at the end of that! Unbelievable effort
July 17, 201214 yr Athy bypass is shut from 6.00am to 9.00 am on Sunday, I'll cheer them on as I walk the dog, good luck to all competitors
July 18, 201214 yr 2.4 miles swim in Penny Flash? Hope they've had typhoid, cholera & TB jabs. Wigginers bathe in that pond.
July 18, 201214 yr Horwich is on lockdown on Sunday, once again. What happened in Horwich last Sunday??
