Fair play to anyone who attempts it, let alone finishes it.

I'd like to do something like that one day. Alas, I fear that day will never come because I'm a lazy cunt.

Horwich is on lockdown on Sunday, once again.

The swimming had ventured to Leyth hadn't it?

Hope it's not the half way point...that would be half way through the cycling :)

surprised there's never much TV coverage of this, hats off to any fucker who finishes it.

reckon i could do the cycling and the running, but i'd drown int' wather.

Bloke goes bobbing past me last year, he's got no legs, no fucking legs. Now it can't be easy doing it with them things missing.

Bloke from work did Nottingham one in 12 hours 3 minutes. 5 minutes off last years time.

He will be in town supporting at weekend.

My brother has done quite a few and has qualified for the World Ironman Championships in Hawaii in October. But before that he wears his first GB vest in the Long Distance World Triathlon championships in Spain a week on Sunday....think I will stick to the 5k Bolton parkruns.

To start - a 2.4 mile swim on Penninton Flash.....sounds reasonable enough but i bet it's harder than it sounds!

Then 112 mile bike ride- three times around Horwich,Adlington,Rivvy,Belmont,Abbey village,Wheelton,Euxton etc etc ....sounds like a right b'stard ( 3 times up Sheephouse lane ffs? - that goes from Rivvy over the tops towards Belmont  ).

Then a 26.2 mile run finishing in front of Bolton town hall, with the leaders coming in around 2 - 2.30pm.

Hats off to anyone who completes this course - even those that finish at 11 pm.

Talking to the guy from work, the one problem with Bolton is the transition from bike o run, as ou have to go collect your stuff after you've finished. Sure it's the last thing you want to do after 12 hours effort.

He does the marathon in 4 1/2 hours at the end of that!

Unbelievable effort

Athy bypass is shut from 6.00am to 9.00 am on Sunday, I'll cheer them on as I walk the dog,

good luck to all competitors

2.4 miles swim in Penny Flash?

Hope they've had typhoid, cholera & TB jabs. Wigginers bathe in that pond.

My kids are doing 'IronKids' on Saturday, they cant wait !
