Featured Replies

Cool things to do with the kids thread. Tip top.

I've done this before.

When its fucking freezing in winter fill some balloons up with water and food colouring. Leave overnight and remove the balloons.

Not got kids but I'm well doing that

Baz, that's ace. I'm going to so that. Well, I'll get someone to do it for me as I'm scared of balloons.

if you have no food colouring can you piss in the balloons instead?

Lets get all blumenthal about this

You would have a flat spot as the water freezes

Therefore the marble wouldn't be round.

I suggest putting the balloon in a bucket of a liquid that has a lower freezing point, that allows the balloon to remain almost buoyant.

But then does that insulate anything sitting within that liquid?

Pack it in snow and itd be reet.

Hark at Homer the research scientist!

Once you've taken the balloon off, glue the know back and leave them at the front of your house, just to see if anyone kicks them.

They arent perfectly round no, neither are balloons, although the kids didn't crack out the protractors and start dividing by pie tbf.

If its snowing and its an issue, scoop a hollow out, it'll be reet.

Pi Barry. It's only divided by Pie in the Wigan Education area.

I would be using them as art, being perfectly round wouldn't be an issue for me:

If you filled the balloons with hot water and sat them in snow wouldn't they form their own round mould prior to freezing?

You mean as it looks on the picture :D

Yup, simple solution to a problem that wasn't actually there

No need for over complication Homo

I want to see proof of concept please.

I bet you're a right laugh playing shop with your kids.

Every day is school day in my Funtime

Pretty cool.

That's ace! (the video I mean).

If I had a garden I'd probably do the marble thing too ... and not be too anal about whether they're perfectly spherical or not.

proper or not at all

This looks like a pretty biz thing to do, but the name of the activity is one to conjure with :)

You're a student, you work it out...

Substitute 'lifesavers' with Polo Mints (not the fruity ones, despite being more aptly named, they stick).

You could do that, perhaps that bloke who played Al in Quantum Leap? Perfect place to commit the crime would be when they're swimming - then the evidence would melt quicker, leave no puddle of water and you'd only have to knock them unconscious - just hope the case isn't assigned to Columbo.

Make the balloon the same size as your favourite bowl and rest it in that.
