As I stated earlier, we don't milk these things.

We're not scouse or manc.

Your right there am I being cynical or do they milk it partially for publicity?

My mum was there on the Lever End with her friend and her friend commented that they all seemed to be swaying on the Embankment and "enjoying" themselves. How wrong was she?

They stopped at for a drink on the way home and when she got near home her mum was at the top of the street "worried to death" as she had heard about the tragedy on the radio and as mum was late home she thought she had been involved.

Mum had no idea what had happened but still recall it as though it was yesterday.

I'm pleased that the club don't go over the top and keep it within the town unlike other clubs we could mention.

Cynical?

I'd say you were being diplomatic by inserting the word partially.

My grandad was there, word got round town that people had died, my gran was worried that after surviving 4 years with the Japs, he'd been caught up in this.

Grampa Spencer was on the Embankment that day as a kid.

Him and his mate got passed over the barrier to safety by complete strangers.

He could never bring himself to go back on the embankment after that.

RIP the 33

RIP to everyone who tragically lost their lives that day

That's exactly what happened to my grandad and he told me years ago that he didn't know what was happening, he just got picked up and passed to the front thank god.

God bless all 33

My Dad, Uncle and Grandad had all gone to game separately. Luckily all 3 didn't get caught up in it despite all 3 being on the Embankment! Apparently my Grandma was beside herself until they all (separatley) returned safe. Dad had no idea wahat had really gone on until he got home and it were on t'wireless.

RIP.

My late dad said he was there with some of his mates from Halliwell - only spoke of it once, said they'd been passed down over the heads of the crowd to the pitch - like Frank, MannyRoad and Truro's Granddads/relatives. He wouldn't have even mentioned it, had I not been incredulous that this had happened and wasn't more well known (when I was learning more about the history of our beloved club in the early days).

We keep it to ourselves, but we still remember, R.I.P.

I bet there's a helluva lot of folk from outside of Bolton who don't even know this disaster ever happened.

RIP to those 33 Whites.
