Job Descriptions / Advert

A pal saw an advert the other week and requested more information on the position as it was a little vague but in the area he would like to develop,

The response he got was only applicants with a suitable cv will receive more info.

He got an email yesterday, saying he had been invited to interview, he asked for a job description and salary guide for said post but was once again told discussion at interview. Now to me I thought that's not right how can you attend am interview without full details of the post,

Is that weird?

No, not going to name the company, just found it very odd when I heard about it.

The Kirby who cleaner?!

I was thinking the same mate :blum:

Maybe it's a shift in the job application process to stop halfwits playing the victim card if they don't get an interview.

Aye but getting an interview and still no details on request?

they might be interviewing for several posts,

definitely kirby vacuums MMW or chief fundraiser for the Bolton Branch of the Barry Knight fanclub

It's a front for the Moonies, nailed on.

I remember the Kirby Vacuum Cleaners, they sent two reps round my house when I was a kid, free demonstration. They wouldn't take no for an answer, even I could see it was a con and I was only about six. They kept doing the 'ringing head office for a discount' pantomime. They were there hours - four at least.

My dad wasn't amused when he got home from working late at 11pm and my mam was wavering over the chequebook wi two Moustachioed Scousers egging her on to sign.

They were about £500/£600 if I remember right,

was it about a grand for a jumped up shit shifter ?

I think they reluctantly, after several tough calls to their boss - reduced the price to about £500, I think the starting price was getting on for a grand.

If I'd been around ten years old, instead of six, I wouldn't have sat listening on the stairs - I'd have walked into the lounge and said "Come 'Ed, on yer bikes lads..." and marched them out myself.

I turned down an interview today for the same reason. It smacks of poor pay to me. Poor show as well.

Scouser came to my house uninvited. Well, they said he would clean one of my carpets but he didn't. At the time I'd never even heard of Kirby vacuum cleaners so his sales call never raised any doubts.

Anyway, part way through his pitch he explained that he had very low blood pressure and could I get him some salt out of the kitchen in an attempt to raise it. I duly obliged, by now thinking he was a cock. Anyway, he spilled the salt onto my carpet, explaining how my own hoover would spoil my carpet because of the sharp angles on the crystals and that the only way to really ensure my carpet survived was to use a Kirby Cleaner.

I told him he'd better hope his fancy hoover worked because he's got 5 minutes to clean my salt up and fuck off. He didn't even get to the bit about phoning his boss to secure me a 50% reduction.

Aye so prob best to know which one you're bring interviewed for

Having recently been through a little bit of job applying, I personally find it pisspoor when companies can't bother their arses to provide details, acknowledge receipt of things or fail to inform people of changes such as delays. The kind if applicant who is content to ve fucked about is not the kind of person I'd want working for me. I applied for one slot at NATO which took for fucking ever to pester folk for referees, give them all manner if obscure details and when it got to a month past the deadline, I found out through backdoor channels that they'd decided there was no vacancy after all. Why the fuck would anyone want to work for an outfit which thinks it's reasonable not to inform the applicants of that?

That's happened to me on morethan one occasion. You then get the "oh we had budget issues". So, you are unprofessional and can't count?

On the one hand, I'm glad it isn't just the rag trade, on the other, it's a bit worrying in your game

I used to work on field sales for British Gas selling Gas, Elec, telephone service etc and in two years only one person was rude to me. The top sellers in our team were taking home on average £1,500 per week for 30 hours knocking on doors. Shit job but very rewarding.

Just go along, see what happens, unless it's a lot of hassle
