Championship Relegation Battle

Over the 24 seasons that the second tier has had 24 clubs the bottom 3 teams have had an aggregate points total varying from 108 to 145, averaging 128. Only 2 teams have been relegated on 52.

This year the current bottom 3 total 141 and they've all got 3 games left.

Bristol City were relegated last night (currently on 40).

Barnsley have 50.

Huddersfield, Wolves and Peterborough each have 51.

Blackburn have 53 with a game in hand.

Burnley and Wednesday have 54.

Millwall (with 2 games in hand), Derby and Blackpool have 55.

Who will join Bristol City? (And how many points to stay up?)

Barnsley and Peterborough in my opinion. Really hoped it would be Blackburn or Blackpool. Just relieved we managed such a good February and March - even an average points haul over those months would have seen us sucked in to the quicksand at the bottom end. Its been a very remarkable year in the lower half of the Championship, as the stats show.

i hope peterbrough stay up just because they lost their first 7

wolves would be immensely funny

as funny as blackburn, but think they'll survive

trips to yorkshire are good piss ups so hope huddersfield and barnsley stay up, but can't see the latter doing it after losing 6-0 and conceeding in last min in last 2 home games

so barnsley and wolves for me
