July 9, 201313 yr Can't believe all the hate Davo get's on here. Its all emmas doing, and if she aint in then blame the ticket office. He should of just said thankyou bolton for giving me a chance ten years ago and paying me a massive amount of money that has set me up for life, then he should of sat down and watched the videos of last season, held his hands up and said yep your right, I can no longer do it at this level week in week out.
July 9, 201313 yr Can't believe all the hate Davo get's on here. I don't think he gets any 'hate' on here. I think what you'll find if you read the posts properly is that there's not a fan around who doesn't think he's been anything but superb for us ... BUT ... there are quite a lot of us who are pissed off with the way he PUBLICLY dragged the name of our club through the mud. Rather than be grateful he was around to share in a fabulous period of our clubs history and leave with a goodbye, a smile and a thank you, he's ended up sounding like a spoiled brat who thinks the club somehow owes him. It didn't need to end like this and it's terribly sad that it did ... but only one person (well, maybe two if you include his wife) is to blame for this.

Edit: ... oh and also the fact when he retells his story of woe at hearing the news on his birthday, there are also the glaring inconsistencies/lies in his story. PS - but at least he put on a brave face for those sick and dying children in hospital later that day. He must've been a real inspiration for them having to deal with the cards he'd been dealt.
July 9, 201313 yr Great post spazzler and crampo. You will struggle to find a bigger Kevin Davies admirer than me,and I'm one of the only ones who thought he should have still played a part towards the end last season. I'm just sad it all had to end this way. Nobody was telling him wasn't any good anymore,he was just being told he wasn't in dougies plans. It would have been a bigger travesty seeing the man sign a one year deal and watch his career fizzle out being pissed off sat on the bench. Now he can have a couple years of glory at Preston or wherever and finish with his head held high, not worrying wether he has enough sub appearances to get a league winners medal.
July 9, 201313 yr It does not occur to him to say "Hang on, I've had a good innings here but I am 36 now..." and that is a bit sad for a guy who has given so much to and has been given so much by Bolton Wanderers over the last decade. It's not always like with Elliot, Elmander and Alonso etc. who sat on their fat contracts content to put 2 fingers up at the end of it. He comes out talking about his UEFA A license so he is always going to be employable. 10+ years on the money he has been on should have set him up for life, if not more fool him.
July 9, 201313 yr Maybe you're right if not a little cynical. Comes across to me that the guy is generally gutted its over for him here and 'our' club didn't handle it very well.
July 9, 201313 yr He should of just said thankyou bolton for paying me a massive amount of money that has set me up for life, Davies was already rich before he signed for Bolton. He got a signing fee from a £7.5 million move to Blackburn as well as one of Jack Walkers contracts. He was made for life financally already

Not sure what the club did wrong. The business over the testimonial was wrongly portrayed by the press, and like anyone else when their time is up, was told that he wouldn't be offered a new one. Dunno the specifics, obviously, but I'm unsure as to what exactly the club should have done differently.

July 9, 201313 yr Davis has done well for this club . But bolton done well for him we mustn't forget that ,his career was going knowhere until we took a chance on him. He's been a great servant for this club , his career was coming to a end . it was just unfortunate the way it ended and he didn't help him self spouting off on talk radio.

I dislike this "servant" expression
July 9, 201313 yr I dislike this "servant" expression They're not paid too badly for domestics, are they?
July 9, 201313 yr I dislike this "servant" expression Suppose its better than Ronaldo claiming to be a slave.
July 9, 201313 yr Read Kevin Davies'and Stuart Holdens both on the same day. He needs telling hes an ungratefull whining gobshite
July 9, 201313 yr Kevin Davies is a bwfc legend for me. The pride I got when he ran on for England, I felt like his dad for fuck sake!
