Mc Afuckinfee Anti Virus

Right, I have free avast working just nice on this netbook & thought I'd uninstalled McAfuckinfee ages ago but no, the bloody thing pops up in Spanish of all languages asking to do something in Spanish.

When I go into my add or remove programs it's not there, but when I do a search there's still files in here that it won't allow me to remove.

I'd not mind but it's getting every hour now it's asking me if I want more information (in Spanish) & it's annoying.

Good job I watched Sesame Street as a kid otherwise I'd not have a clue what it meant.

Geekers, please help, ta.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/mcafee_consumer_product_removal_tool.html

try this link, once you've opened it (the link), you'll see a flashing bar call "download locations"  click on one that is on majorgeeks.com. it will start to download the tool automatically.

this should remove all registry keys and hidden folders and files to do with Mcafee! hope this helps

install and run ccleaner

it'll clean the machine and its got a software removal tool

ccleaner won't remove mcafee reg keys. it just clears temp files and internet history. it will speed your pc up, but you will probably loose all your auto fill forms and saved passwords etc.

Has anyone any further ideas on this, I keep getting pop ups from McAfee, Chrome, Windows saying my system is under threat, I have run Norton Security scan twice but these fuckers are pinging regularly

Think you need to block pop ups in your browser

Stop paying for anything, as well

Just get avg free

Windows defender is oreet when it's up to date.

I tend to use opera now when browsing anything that's not a "safe site",

Block pop-ups, disable auto downloads.

Chrome is my default browser, with the Adblock extension. And I only use standard Windows Security for anti-virus and firewall stuff. Never had any issues. Paying for anti-virus software these days is daft unless you're browsing the dark web for drugs and guns.

correct, the average user shouldn't need to pay for any anti-virus stuff in this day and age

I pay £70 a year for Norton which covers 3 devices, if I stop paying what is the best free one, please

You will get different answers

Ive used free avg for years and years with no problems

I try to, but technology isn't a strong point

I'd sooner have a virus than McAfee or Norton

They will/should update themselves as long as you don't instruct them not to.

I have ESET so don't appreciate McAfee fucking pop ups all the time. Tried allsorts to stop them. Still haven't completely managed it.

Annoying cunts.
