I think the Categories A, B and C are wrong, wing stand, centre and all that bollocks.

As a Bolton fan it doesn't matter to me who we play as I go to watch Bolton no matter who the opposition is!

No more than £25 in the upper tiers and £20 in the lower seems a fair price for all home games?

  • Accounting for inflation it is....."in real terms" as the club would probably suggest

  • I'm not following your logic. They charged what they could get away with in the Prem - to a max of 39 quid for the top games in the upper tier. That's not 'cheap as fuck' to most Boltonians. We're not

  • Of course they did. They're a business. I was disputing your assertion that they kept prices 'cheap as fuck'. Compared to what? The top clubs with fan bases nothing like ours? And now we're not at the

Are we talking of the £10 tickets that go to junior football clubs?

It seems to be the case, which is great for those entitled.

But there are exiled Bolton fans who would be more inclined to venture to games if the price was £10.

Cheap tickets should be available to all - not just a certain few.

I don't think we'd sell out if it was £5 a ticket.Like someone said earlier - the party is well and truly over.

Peaks and troughs an' all that.......we'll be back one day.

then we'd have less income. The tickets are given to local clubs as a way of raising money for them primarily, not for getting attendances up and I suppose it's a bit of a perk for those that give up their free time to help kids play, I dont know, they are not available for all games but quite a few and to be honest, its gets people going who wouldnt normaly go, I brought 5 10 year olds last week, only two were bolton fans, though they all live in Bolton, their parent wouldnt dream of taking them to the match, this allows them to go and who knows, may give them the bug and make them ditch the chelsea/city shirts sometime in the future and become the next generation? that was certainly my reasoning for bringing them.

there's a lot of things to moan about but the 10 pound club ticket scheme isnt one of them to be honest.

Lets take the next home match against QPR. A seat in ESL is around £25. Add to that a few beers, getting to the ground and there's no change out of £60.

You could sit in your local, watch it on the telly and spend £20 on beer therefore a saving of £40. We need to get folk to the match on televised days along with non TV days and perhaps reducing prices for TV games may be a start. How much do we get from sky for televising the match and could this be used to subsidise tickets?

I get my tickets for £10, it was £12.50 in the Prem, sometimes there were no takers at that price!

My mate is involved in local football (Bolton County) and I've never got tickets from him, although he often gets cheap tickets, it's not a free for all.

It's certainly not advertised

you're wrong

Where? In the BN? Club website? I've never seen it in either place. The only deal I've seen them advertise - and even then pretty half-heartedly - has been the odd once a season thing against some unattractive team. Or the odd deal for Junior Whites - which I applaud.

cheap skate..bolton fan  my arse

It's not really worth a tenner TBH, but that's modern day football for ya. Therein lies the original problem.

so what would you pay?

Hard to put a price on it, if I had to pay full whack I'd probably go for decent seats, LoV or whatever.

tell ya what, lets let everybody in for nowt and just let sky and eddie fund the lot

Tell you what, why don't you give us your master plan for getting more people in then, instead of constantly finding fault with other people's suggestions?

i don't have one

i don't give a fcuk whether people come or not

i definitely don't think cost is the reason most don't attend

our crowds are currently at the level i'd expect them to be in this league - theyre higher than they were in the top league in 79

maybe if you did some research you'd learn something

ie theres nowt we can do that will see us regularly get 20k plus through the doors to watch a team in the middle of division 2

Do we need more people on seats or do we need more/steady gate income?  They are not always one and the same, & certainly not with some of the suggestions on this thread.

There was mention of "exiled Bolton fans". Exiled, as in can't be arsed? If it is that then it surely won't be maintainable in the long term as free/cheap tickets can't be handed out infinitum.

Edited by no balls

oh aye, if bigger crowds led to more income, i'd be in favour

if its just more folk for the sake of it, iamout

Me, I've got no idea, and if I had I wouldn't be ballooning on here.

However, if we make a cup final then 20,000 extra fans suddenly appear. So they are there. I don't think cost plays a part in why people don't go. If you gave tickets away, I doubt you'd fill the ground week in and out apart from with kids.

Passion not fashion.

We averaged 16k in 79-80, but crowds generally were starting to drop then - Leeds only had 22k, Derby and Boro both under 20k - and we were shite that season.

In the 3 years leading up to promotion we averaged around 21k (this enough research for you?). The fans are there, we need to do more to attract them. If you want to see a half empty stadium bringing in as much revenue as a full stadium of cheaper tickets, fair enough. Personally, I don't.

not really

we were on the up after a good few years of struggling and had the best team in the league

plenty teams brought big followings

Then I'd say they're not really fans, they are people with a passing interest.

Indeed. Fuck them.

And plenty took big followings to other clubs - so their attendances would have been inflated too. Either way, we were the second best supported Div 2 club in 76 and 77 and the third best in 78 - when Spurs were down there and averaged 33k. Sadly, we'll not be in the top 3 best supported this year, even if we're top. I'm just trying to suggest ways in which we might get up there again. Christ, if Brighton - who had no ground and crowds of 5 or 6k for the past 10 years or more - can suddenly pull 26k in for home games, why can't we? Yeah, they don't have United, City etc on their doorstep but neither have they regularly pulled in the kinds of crowds we have over the years.

Plenty on here don't go, but are clearly fans - or why would they spend their time posting stuff about BWFC?
