Not that I agree with Tomski's irrational hatred of Eagles, but you can't simply say "take away 12 goals and 12 assists".  Had Eagles not been playing then we wouldn't have been playing with 10 men. Someone else would've been playing who would've chipped in ... but more importantly I think Tomski's saying we'd have conceded a lot less goals if we'd have had a harder working player in his place.

 

It's not too dissimilar to why so many aren't keen on Darren Bent (and dare I suggest Klasnic too).  Yes, he'll always score you goals, but he'll contribute absolute fuck all else to a game.  That's all good and well if you've got 10 other players who can do all his work and create the chances for him, but when that's not happening then he's neither use nor ornament.

Not a massive Eagles fan. His flashes of brilliance frustrate me, it shows what he's capable of. I'd prefer an industrious feeney to him. Eagles doesn't play for anyone but himself and his beloved United. I was surprised when he dedicated his goal to Kevin Davies the other week. Not great for team morale really.

I'd say Eagles does work hard but he's not one for running 30 yards to mark a full back pushing up. Unfortunately for him that's the type of player we need at the moment. He's left his full back exposed on virtually every appearance he's made

If rumours of an Eagles fallout are true, and he is out of contract at the end of the season, with no way of resolving the issue, then I'd be tempted to sell him. Otherwise I personally think we'd be mental to consider anything short of £4m for him. 

 

Whether you like him or not, you can't argue that he can be different class in this division; he's one of those players that gives you something extra going forward. Every club needs a player of his ilk if they're going to push towards promotion. If he's happy we'd be daft to sell.

I'm not suggesting that we'd receive an offer of anything close to £4m. If we're not in with a shout of the playoffs come January, he's decided to leave, and the best offer we get is in the £1m region then naturally we should consider our options. Otherwise, it's worth keeping hold of him IMO.

when he's started we've got 4 points from 6 games - 4 draws including 2 assists and a goal, take them away, we've got 2 points

 

when he wasn't in the squad we got 0 points from 2 games

 

when he's been on the bench we've got 4 points, but he didn't get on in the last 2

 

so it's 50/50

 

and he's made a valuable contribution when he's played

If both players wish to take a further step back and BWFC gain financially ;then Let them go.At this moment in time we need players who are willing to bust a gut for the Club.Not selfish arses whose only concerns are for themselves.
