Leicester had all the South Stand Upper and sold out. Quite unusual an away team having none of the Lower Tier.

 

So no capacity was lost to segregation

I could have sworn I was shouting across at Leicester fans yards away from me in the lower tier when we equalised. Weird, the mind plays tricks.

I remember the M62 being like a car park that night and coppers warning us to stay on the coach as a Wanderers fan had already been knocked down trying to leg it to the ground.

 

No segregation that night as I recall, every man for himself  quite a few Leeds turned up as well, in their end of course

It was quite common that season, mainly because the demand was there for home support. I seem to remember quite a few only getting the upper tier. Norwich when we beat them 1-0, Watford I think was another with the Speed penalty.

The embankment was reduced by a few terraces in the 70s but still could hold a good 20000

not certain on this but wasn't it against blackpool (3-0 to them) the first time it was split in 2,possibly 76/77 season

 

the rows were reduced in either 78/79 or 79/80,possibly the latter

 

wasn't the supermarket around 88 ?

I seem to remember in the summer of 76 the club really tidied up the embankment by concreting over the old cinder terracing replacing the back wall and introducing the large double fencing.They put in a large entrance at the back and all this had a big change on capacity.
