For The Older Lads

Did the 80-84 decline have a similar feel to this?

Just wondering really

I was too young to know

It was grim and emabarrassing at times:     Doncaster Rovers away Christmas 87 was a low point   Getting outclassed and losing 3-0   Wanderers fans locked in a cage on low level terracing that

Seem to remember a very long conga in operation at 4-0 in that Wolves game

Nice to hear the stories from you older guys and girls.....

Exactly.

Can imagine some tales from some of our fans in years to come.

"Had a great day in B&Q,got a 3rd off weed killer and a bazzing new shower curtain"

That was 1 rough day! 4 down at half time uric, fookin Steve bastard Bull!!

I went on the Travel Club and the coach broke down. Sadly they managed to fix the fucker and we still made the match - only missing the first goal.

Whole game was spent dodging stuff being thrown from upper tier and winding the old bill up. Wanderers fans all surged out after the game and weren't for being kept behind. Same happened at Barnsley in Cup the same season.

We had some followings when you think about it - 3k at Wolves, probably 4k at Barnsley...in a season when our average home crowd was only 5k!

I got threw out twice before kick off that day.

Cost me a small fortune to see us get hammered.

Stayed with a mate who was at Birmingham Uni and it kicked off there later that night too.

We went by car, unfortunately parked in opposite direction to where our lot went rampaging.... bit dodgy but just about made it through. We had some brilliant turn outs in those days, especially in proportion to our home crowds

We went down in 3 coaches and a few vans. Got pulled by the filth on the outskirts. One lad DR was so bladdered he fell off the coach steps into the arms of the Wolverhampton constabulary. Safe to say he missed the game.

The Deane lads only made it as far as the Stafford area, some village called Pinkclink,Pinkthorpe, something like that and got an escort all the way back to  Great Moor St. I've got the pics of their coach.surrounded by 8 vans of filth.

Match was shit except for when we baled into the puffs outside.

Great followings in that division, good days and brilliant memories

i got the same feeling as when Northampton dicked us 3-0 at Burnden in the 80's and the majority of Megson's tenure. Something's not right and it'll all come to a head soon
