There is a big difference between offering subsidised social housing for hard working families on low incomes and offering free housing for those who cannot be arsed to work. This is what the issue is.

So assuming someone is on benefits you find it irrelevant that they may need to be housed in accommodation where the owner, by definition, is making money from us as taxpayers, not to mention on the back of someone in need!!

Probably because there are not enough Social houses to go around.

If those who could afford their own houses, or rent privately decided to live in a council house then were would the 'Poor' live?

Social houses are in short supply and those who are more needy are rightly given priority.

In any case, Maggie sold off the Council houses 30 years ago, its only the last 10 years that there has been a severe shortage of Social housing.

Cameron has to have a house in London and given his role and the security needed it is part of his role and comes free.

 

MPs have either rent paid of mortgages paid which when not abused is fair enough.

If he had bought the house for half it's value and then sold it he would get slated as well, the fact is council housing is run to make money and the council end up owning a house which will be worth more now as house prices have rocketed

The policy was brought in the early 80s since then thousands of houses have been sold on without ever being replaced.

 

If finances somehow miraculously allowed us to afford to buy. I'd buy our place as would the majority of others.
