October 2, 201411 yr I know some of the threads touch on Gartside but I can't recall seeing a recent one specifically for this so thought it was time to start one. Freedman needs to go now but so should Gartside as he is at fault for much of the mess we find ourselves in. If Freedman does go can Gartside be trusted in making another Managerial appointment? I think not. Before anyone complains I know we've had some good times under his chairmanship but we are now in a really shit and dire state and amongst a number of gripes I start with: - Freedman - it was his choice as Manager, I was surprised at the time when he was appointed and to be fair I have given him a chance but cannot give him any longer as he is ruining our club and turning us into an unforgivable embarrassment. - Communication - is it me or when the times were good Gartside was happy to hog the limelight. His silence in clarifying the present situation is deafening and an insult to the fans. - Salary- some may know better than me but is it correct than he still takes over £600000 per annum from BWFC? Whilst doing so he has presided over monumental losses that has seen our debt spiral to crazy levels in recent years. Sure someone who posts on here could do better at a fraction of the cost - unfortunately it's not like we don't need to save money! I am hoping when I wake up in the morning that Gartside and Dougie will have reigned but I am not expecting to that this will happen in which I will be looking for paint and an unwanted sheet ready for Saturday.
October 2, 201411 yr At the risk of repeating myself and others... Phil Gartside is employed at whatever his salary is by Eddie Davies to fulfill whatever tasks are in his job remit. We don't know what his job actually fully entails, nor will we ever find out. The fact that he has held his job down overt these past few difficult years would tend to suggest that his boss ie the owner of the club, is happy enough with what Phil does.

October 2, 201411 yr I don't think Gartsides is as safe as some make out, in one of those fan forum things I'm sure he said he would be out if the financials took another hiding like they did last year I'm not one that thinks his appointments have been bad at the time when he has made them. His problem for me is that he gives them to long when the writing is on the wall. Many see that as honourable though and call chairman for sacking managers on a whim so I suppose PG is fucked whatever he does. Let's remember only a very small percentage if managers actually work out and deliver promotions / silver wear I'm happy for PG to pick another, lets just hope he gets rid by the weekend

October 2, 201411 yr give or take, we are in a similar position league wise to when gartside arrived the main difference is that we have now got a 160 million debt - i suppose it depends on how much influence PG has on whether he should be accountable for that i'd say eddie davies has made the calls on financial policy if we hadn't been relegated when our wage bill shouldve have been enough to keep us up - that was the killer, especially cos of the timing - the debt may have now been massively lower and nobody ever moaned that we were overspending in fact, we didn't even back allardyce, remember and without eddies money, we wouldn't have been able to fund the shortcut to the top anayway and why did eddie come on board? cos garty convinced him and gartside saw this coming - he even contributed to the suugestion of a closed shop top 2 leagues to protect the relegated and bolton fans were on his back for that. ffs any view of gartside based on where we are now without some consideration of where we've been is badly skewed imo fwiw, i'd like him to retire and spend his saturdays booing us Edited October 2, 201411 yr by Casino
October 2, 201411 yr Weren't we on the brink of administration when Gartside came in? Certainly wasn't with the level of debt we have now, but it was bleak all the same if memory serves me right.
