22%?

the pie chart explanation I received last week showed it as approx a quarter of a full one. Yes, it pissed me off, I wish they'd not sent it.

22%?

22% of my wage is taken atm as a self employed tradesman

22% goes on cunts sitting on their arses, or does that include other things, like state pensions?

it was for "welfare", I think there was another slice for pensions. Have you not received your calculation mail?

Not yet.  My understanding was that the 22% included pensions. We'll all be old sometime. Hopefully.

Come close to election time those parties who have funds will bring out the scare tactics such as the OP of this thread and we will all then fall into line! Otherwise we maybe tainted by admitting we voted UKIP as the press and media told us not to as it's un PC!

As you were.

you've just made me get off my arse & find it. You understand wrong, there's another slice for pensions.

Gosh

22% of my wage is taken atm as a self employed tradesman

Aren't we talking about 22% of actual tax paid not wage ?

Chippy tea - I understand your gripes but you aren't thinking them through enough.

What's needed is a proper Conservative government (i.e. one which conserves what we have as the name suggests). Then you will get your lower tax rates, less handouts, strong border control etc.

Once watered down by right wing defectors to UKIP and the influence of pansy fucking centrists who are neither use nor fucking ornament, you get a pale reflection of the strong government (with proven economic credentials) which is vitally needed.

Instead, of course, you'll get 'protest' voters backing UKIP, the same lame brained red rag ranjpots voting for a cow if it wears a red rosette and then, worst of all, apathetic types who can't be arsed exercising their democratic right which folk have fought and died to maintain.

This means that you will end up with a hung parliament again with a very real danger that you'll be led by the biggest joke of a party leader I have ever seen outside of the Monster Raving Loony Party.

The pie chart that got sent out by the government was genius propaganda. The welfare bit includes all sorts of pensions etc that they've put in there to get people worked up about scroungers. Strange that it should come out when an election is on the horizon. I couldn't care less about any of the parties at the moment. I can't stand Cameron, miliband is completely unelectable, clegg is pure scum and farage has got to be a chris morris character.

Its funny how the propaganda works quite easily. As displayed on posts on here! Job done.

So they've just made it all up then? How silly of me to fall for it.

I like the fact Britain is a caring nation that looks after folk rather than let them rot like other nations. We could argue about what we pay tax for, for just about anything. I certainly have in the past:)

I could be wrong but I thought welfare had included things like pension top ups, disability benefits, child benefits, winter fuel allowances and in work benefits (due to shit wages). Its only about 3 percent that goes on unemployment but they decided it wouldn't be helpful to break these figures down.

  • Author

Well why didn't anyone say it included child benefit! Thats ok then

:)

I knew that one would annoy you :-)

Have you not received your calculation mail?

I've not had mine yet, Mrs CWP got hers this week, I'm still waiting. I am preparing to be outraged though

Correct

I'd actually be happy to pay another 5%~10% tax if I knew it was being spent in the right areas

Does your bullshit detector honestly not go off when you (presumably you didn't make it up yourself) read things like that?

JSA is £57 per week for under 24 and £72 per week over that. The claiment count has only just got down below a million. So we're spending £3bn on that, and no one is claiming the welfare bill is £1,000 billion.

And the idea that JSA is the only unemployment related benefit is about as ridiculous as the idea that all welfare is spent on scutters. The difference being that whilst the second position is only held by the strawmen in some people's heads, the former seems depressingly common in twitter level 'analysis'.

Genuinely happy to see different figures and percentages if you've got them. One of the good points of wways finding stuff out.

JSA this year is forecast to be £3.7bn of £167bn total bill. last year with full official figures it was over £5bn of £166bn bill. That's before you count any other benefits, or question how many people are really so disabled they have to spend their life stuck at home wasting away.

Anyway, it turns out I can't so percentages this early in the weekend, but thanks for not calling me out. the point remains that just taking JSA as unemployment benefits is a very limited way of looking at it given there are a million people on JSA claiming plenty of other benefits, and there's still a backlog of people incorrectly assigned to DLA (which still seems to be growing exponentially despite all the 'attack on the disabled' attacks).

Are you mixing up DLA (Disability Living Allowance) with Esa (Employment Support Allowance)?

DLA is available to all disabled people regardless of employment status to cover extra costs due to their disability where as esa is paid to those 'too ill to work'.

JSA, DLA, ESA.

Too much TLA IMO
