When you think back to the way pitchers were by November, ground staff these days do a great job. Even in December or players get to play on great surfaces.

The pitches today are at best 50% natural and 50% artificial. Like Michael Vaughan's hair.

Technology has clearly moved on a lot, even "lesser" clubs like Rochdale and Accrington Stanley have pitches like bowling greens these days.

 

Groundsmen are probably ten a penny, I'm sure he'll be replaced soon enough

It was all over SkySports last year, didn't/doesn't cost them anything - it's part of Man City helping local clubs out. I guess that Bury have to keep,it maintained, but as for rent, it doesn't cost the, a bean apparently.
