They certainly don't want ripping down, but enhancing with the replacement of adjacent monstrosities, and better use.The old Turkish baths just one example, row of solicitor type businesses along St George's road: reallynwell kept and used by smaller companies.I don’t want the whole town flattening 😆 I’m on about the centre with the dozenS of vape shop, bookies and pie shops. 9 hours ago, DirtySanchez said:Not seen the plans but could it be designed so that when your walking to the town centre you get an aligned view of the town hallAO wanted to buy that years ago, it was pretty much a done deal until the council turned around to them at the last minute and said it’s an extra x amount for the parking. AOs owner politely told them to go and fuck themselves and they moved to parklands instead

But I think the plan is offices/apartmentsWasn't it originally houses before the shopping boom of the 60's and 70's ? Either way it won't ever be shops again. Town Centre needs to be shrank.. Even Bury has its fair share of empty shops now and no indoor market still..

I took the time recently to look at some of the architecture- many of the buildings are quite impressive, and ornate. Maybe from the textile boom era. They just seem to get lost amongst the depressing, tawdry carbuncles in between them.Town centre would be improved with a big sign and free bus service to Mahmood's Rwanda.

Given most shops in the hall have new venues in the mill gate and possibly more passing trade than they had in the market hall I can't see a rush to a decision. There's also units in The Rock development that have never had tennants as well as more recent empty units
23 hours ago23 hr Also one of the major plans for Bolton town centre was to bring housing into the plans. Houses were supposed to be going where Audi is, on Chorley Street car park and in church warf. This is what will help revive the centre better than offices and apartments. Remove the massive areas of dead industrial units and bring folk to a walkable distance to the centre.
