My father in law was a steward at the time. Right by the gate to the away end. Couple of minutes in some lad shouts something pro-United and he asks does he want to move into the away end. He refuses.

I was living in Mcr at the time and the trains weren't running (maintenance) so it was a bus replacement service. My bus back was full of proper old school Munichs - many of them battered and covered

I know I've posted before but I'm still working through how shit it was so I'll post again. Fucking horrible day. I was genuinely convinced we had a chance. Morning start in The Feathers, Murphy's Oyster and chip butties. I'm shit at drinking so I was wobbly before we got to the game. My only positive memory was as the first goal went in and many Reds jumped up in the Burden Terrace, a guy near us threw the most perfect uppercut that caught his chin as he was landing the combined momentum knocked him out cold and he disappeared to the floor, no idea what happened to him after. Then the goals continued to rain in, my hangover started to creep in. Made all the worse by some plastic mancs lording it from the safety of their houses on Bromwich Street, about 200m from the ground and couldn't be arsed going, pricks. I'm in a bad mood now, fucking cheers.

First goal goes in, he jumps in celebrating and got absolutely hammered. He was begging to go through the gate. My father-in-law refused.

Remember lads trying to run over from the Manny Road North to try and get to them on Kamikaze missions.

Shame the fixture ended up pretty sterile by the end of our prem years ;(

I got my nose broken in a scrap with a Man U fan

I was in Leicester

Before or after?

Got to Mum's in Tonge Moor... she had had a fall, drove her to Royal Infirmary where they put her wrist in plaster, she insisted (bless her) i went to the match so dropped her off with Sister in Bradshaw.

Only time I ever left a game early, was always convinced it was 1-6 as I heard the cheer as I walked behind the Lever End... someone told me Blake equalised but disallowed... never bothered to find out properly, don't want to know.

Shit day all round

I was living in the USA at that time so missed it .

I was farnworth back then,   remember a big number of them walking through farnworth and having a welcome committee greet them at the post.

We should have had a penalty when it was nil nil, replays showed it was a penalty.

Given we couldn't be arsed to put a tackle in, I doubt it would have made much difference

Not a single yellow card IIRC

Good bit their book about that.

Nothing but respect from their proper lot for us.
