Is there a direct flight?

There isnt. Can go direct to the resorts, but the only airline that does direct flights to Havana from the Uk is Virgin Atlantic, from Gatwick.

Anyone contemplating going to Cuba should do so soon. Their economic isolation has led to its current character. Now the Americans are softening as we are, investment is sure to follow and no doubt all the old cars will be sold to collectors and the character will change as modernisation follows

Cheapo Ryanair or Easyjet Manchester to Madrid, Air Europa Madrid to Havana...

Priced it up once, was cheap as chips.

We went to Cuba last year and are doing so again this year. As Tonge Moor said, if you're going to go, go now before things start to change too drastically.

We wanted to go to Havana but none of the major tour operators (in resorts down towards Holguin anyway) run trips from the resorts to Havana as the planes are considered too unsafe. Could do it privately but I don't think your insurance would cover it and it was about 600 CUCs for a one night trip which worked out at about £400.

I think we looked at Varadero which is about 90 mins on a coach from Havana and Thomas Cook flew there.

Goin back about 4 years now, we ended up doing Goa so can't tell you what it's like.

Had a gander, picked a random-ish date on Air Europa (September) was £394 return (Madrid-Havana), Ryanair Manchester to Madrid and vice-versa can often be as cheap as £19.99 each way...Probably less hassle than getting to Gatwick and flying direct imo...

Daughter's going Monday. We are going Sept/Oct. Hope to fuck i get get there before the Septics ruin the place

Went to Varadero a good few years ago, great place and it is 2 hours on a coach to Havana. Dick head here didn't do the trip when there though, really regret that.

Went in 2010, Playa Pesquero. Was lovely, and a bargain at £750 each AI for 2 weeks

Went to Havana, loved it, Varadero bored the pants off me.

In 2007 it looked like Fidel Castro was on his way out so a few of us went over to see Cuba before it changed. We flew into Havanna before setting off touring the island, heading south along the west coast to Santiago before heading back to Havanna for a couple of days.

It's a facinating place, probably the thing you notice most is the lack of advertising. In its place you have giant roadside billboards praising various aspects of the revolution.

I read about those prize pricks from Brum yesterday who thought they were heading to Vegas, only for his tit of a wife booking a flight departing from Birmingham, Alabama......

Must have booked it through Little Whitt's Travel...

Had a few brilliant nights in Havana. My experience was that everyone was very friendly and everyone to some extent was trying to hussle you or at least sell you something. Brilliant place. Travel round the island if you can it's worth seeing before its full of fat Americans. Having said that when I went it was full of fat Russian blokes shagging Cuban prostitutes, the Americans are probably preferable to them.

Happens a lot more often than you think. Number of times we had people thinking they had the bargain of a lifetime, paying 49 dollars for a flight to New York, to discover they had bought a ticket from Manchester, New Hampshire.
