Dentures

I never knew why my parents had dentures, but found out last night.

It was the norm for people to have their teeth removed as a 21st Birthday present.

And be given a full set of dentures.

Which Congolese tribe are your parents from?

Never had you down as an African BD!

My mam used to tell us that she had her teeth taken out because of stomach problems.

I got a sunbed for my 21st. Can't help thinking I missed out now.

Never heard that, maybe replaced with gold ones, yeah. But acrylic resin ones ?

Mental

Everyone used to run pretty much on sugar back then; sweet tea, boiled sweets, Vimto, Colsfoot rock, cinder toffee, Tunes etc. Coupled with scant regard for brushing teeth, due to toothpaste costing about three quid, most folk's teeth were fucked by 21...

Probably be the same scenario in twenty years - thanks to 'Brexit'.

And cake too, Lyons ones mainly (Golden Syrup, Jamaica Ginger cake etc.) - custard cream biscuits too, and those ones with icing that Bolty likes.

Or whoever makes them (those cakes) the net says Mcvities, but that's the Mandela effect, used to be Lyons.

Fucking hell Youri, you'll be singing Vera Lynn songs in a minute.

I've got 4 false teeth and I'm only 32.

Fell off my bike ;)

Dental implants are not cheap either and that's despite having a niece as a dentist too

My mate (36 C) from down south (Chorlton) told me last night that she had her tonsils out when she was in her early teens. I asked her why she had them removed and she said it was normal, the done thing down there for youngsters. She was shocked to find out that up here it was the first time I've heard such a thing going on and we still have our tonsils intact. How bizzare.

And trifle.... don't forget trifle.

They did though, that's why 'tea' is called tea, it used to be tea, maybe some bread and dripping or if you were lucky, stale cake. You'd done your day's work, so no point in wasting food eating a proper meal. Anyhow, we'll all get to experience these austere delights once again (like tea for tea) soon enough thanks to this so-called 'Brexit'.

I could murder some trifle, I've got a tub of jelly with raspberries in it at home, but it's a poor second now I've been reminded of trifle.

I love trifle

There's not much I won't eat.

But trifle is one of them. Along with Turkish delight, Tobletone and muesli.

It's disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

I nobbed a brass up black alley who's Fanny looked like a Turkish delight.

Better or worse than lobby?

Better or worse than lobby?

Lobby isn't food

Lobby isn't food

I'd agree with Turkish shite and to an extent with trifle but you've gone too far now.

Lobby with red cabbage. Marvellous; don't really need the fireworks.

I know this has been covered in numerous threads.

But you lot argue almost to the point of violence about the correct recipe for a 'dish' that is only one step up from dung.

I've eaten a few different versions and the one consistent characteristic throughout them all has been an overwhelming flavour or soil, misery and desperation.

We do not need to eat like this in the 21st century.

Stop it. Stop it now.

Lobby = Gruel

Lobby = Gruel

Lobby isn't fit to lace Gruel's sheepskin loafers

The thing with trifle nowadays is the blancmange layer (? layer ? section ??) has bin 'disappeared'.

Can't get me head round that. Is it just a thing i used to see ? , ie, the people i know that made 'em just did it with blancmange in and it weren't supposed to. Or were it supposed to, but it's just fell out of favour ?

The blancmange layer of school trifle was made by Dunlop. Proper hanging.

No great loss!

Semolina. To me it's just puréed slugs ????
