You think a fat bloke from Smethwick belching angrily down a microphone for 3 hours whilst another fat bloke just thrashes 2 power chords through several distortion pedals is music. I mean they're from Watford but other than that you're not too far away. 😀 http://youtu.be/e4OxhDZQVXA?si=sgzlF35dg3KnJCt8 Edited October 4, 20241 yr by frank_spencer

October 14, 20241 yr Really been enjoying this album - suits the autumn vibe and its about a road trip across the US. The guitar palying is really good - reminds me of King's Daughters's and Sons If Not Then When (which is one of my favourite albums of all time)

October 21, 20241 yr Looking forward to this - out today, if its any good definatley going to purchase on my travels to Rough Trade tomorrow. Apparently poppier than Inner Song which I loved and with more of a Charlil XCX feel.

Don't mind this but not blown away by it yet.

Yeah - listened to it a couple of times this morning - not grabbed me in the same way Inner Song did - I'll give it a bit more time now before purchasing.
October 21, 20241 yr Hadn't heard of Laura Marling until I listened to the latest episode of the Adam Buxton Podcast. Marvellous.

Ex girlfriend of the lead singer of Noah and the Whale and then Mumford and Sons. She is better than both. Her last but one album is a stunner.

October 22, 20241 yr Also - this album is nothing like you've heard from Noah and the Whale if you haven't heard it. Its all about the breakup between Charlie Fink and Marling. Its called The First Days of Spring, I really like it, even though I didn't like their first album.
October 23, 20241 yr Actually thinking about end of Britpop this week in light of the endless Oasis articles that seem to be popping up online and how after 18 months from 95 to mid 96 it was a bit of a busted flush for me, thinking what was coming out around that time and realised in 97 in a few months one of my favourite and probably one of the all time great alt rock albums came out - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One by Yo La Tengo and then Brighten The Corners by Pavement which whilst doesn't get as much love as Slanted and Enchanted or Wowee Zowiee is still really good, and then Dinosaur Jr's last major label release Hand It Over.
November 15, 20241 yr Think Linkin Park’s new album stands up well against some of their others. Had it on 3 times today. She’s doing a good job as CB’s replacement.
