Is It Me, Or Is Music Shite These Days ?

I always went on with the flow, but just stuck on XFM these days listening to Chris Moyles who i hated on radio one 20 years ago. At least he plays a good tune or two between talking.

Proper Leigh White sort of thread

Top 40 was always shite.

Still plenty of excellent music being made

True

There's good music out there

But are there any bands now that will be still be massive and headlining in 20 years time?

Where's the next Foos or Radiohead

Or even Coldplay

Maybe I'm out of touch but I've not enjoyed anything mainstream for a good 10 years

Yeah, I'm old and out of touch

I know

No LW it isn't just you. Shite.

The 00s were the decade that killed music. Aside from shite like the killers, KoL, and Coldplay, the only real acts to grow are the Arctic Monkeys.

There is little edge, no bubbling feuds, and hardly any longevity; maybe it's because of the dawn of the digital age, music became much more throw away?

Even KoL sold out in the pursuit of radio airplay

Don't blame them like

But there last few album's were miles away from their first two

Exactly mate. I saw them at the Apollo and the we're ace...

Then came sex on fire...

Yep, also went to the Apollo after the 2nd album, ace gig

Manchester Central after the 3rd was also very good

Went to the arena after the 4th album

Totally different vibe and audience, with confused looks on their faces as they played Joe's Head whereas they'd come to hear Need Somebody

Plenty of good music around

I love good music, just my taste must be out of touch these days with the current amount of bilge.

Not heard a decent guitar band for a couple of years. There's loads of good electronic music around though.

Been spoiled with the music scene since the 60s and with so many vibrant tunes coming out and the decades beyond it a was joy to behold , when your listening to today's music I feel for the yoof missing out.

I will look into those bands, thank's. I'm not going to retire yet.:D

Not sure Sleaford mods will be up many folks Street.

I love Sleaford Mods, but I concur

It’s just another Alnwick Monday

Music in the 70s was utter fucking dogshit, pretty much all of it. Even early punk, speeded up hippy shit. You can have Bowie as the only mainstream artist that wasn't shit. And Abba. Awful.

It is just down to taste.

The music i listen to seems to get better and better as time goes on.

I was fortunate enough to see a "Real band who are probably one of the best ever" last year. fuck me you lot listen to some shite.

Chavvy dance music for me.

Ride i think they were called.

Ride are amazing, if you like feedback.

Look at the charts now, The Specials, Queen, Ian Brown.

Same as it ever was.

Remember my dad telling me the Smiths were shit and Morrissey looked a state with flowers hanging out of his arse.

He did however, begrudgingly tell me ' that guitarist aint bad though'.

One cool mo'fo my dad.

I didn't notice the rabbit ear double quotes in your post so didn't realise you were taking the piss

Though I can now see you were taken for a ride, so to speak
