This my worry with Putin. Old school Soviet. Show of military strength on borders. The wheel is turning full circle. I sort of get the argument of leaving the Eastern bloc countries to the Ruskies but

Just looking at the map; it has been widely reported that when the summer brings warmer weather the virus won't survive. There must be parts of the world currently enjoying their summer yet apart from Alaska, Greenland, top end of Scandanavia, almost the whole of Russia and the former Eastern Bloc countries, all of them cold climates rather than hot, the virus seems fairly prevalent North of the equator.

Putin loves a distraction.

Tick tock....

“June 1st: Trump talks to Putin on the phone, again.

June 5th: Trump announces he withdrawing one-third of US troops from Germany

June 5th: Putin announces he's moving more troops to Russia's western border with Europe”

Obsessed. :)

Did wonder if Putin's lot could be behind some of the kick off we've seen though.

Sleeper cells waiting for a chance for a bit of anarchy.

I do have a moderate obsession with Russia/Putin.

Stems from studying the Baltics at College

I just cannot see Putin leaving office having not reclaimed them. He's determined to leapfrog Lenin/Stalin as a true Russian icon.

They have their warships in the Baltic Sea don’t they?

Kaliningrad.

Was a closed region until recently.

Same went for Vladivostock.

Whenever i hear/read Vladivostok it reminds me of when Liverpool played them in europe in the mid 90s

It's Russia but basically on the border with north Korea

The picture quality would've been better if they were playing on mars

No

the Chinese are definitely coming

Be reet.

We'll just have to build a casino on every street corner...

All going to plan

Don't you mean Vladikavkaz? Kazakhstan or somewhere like that.

Turns out i do

A lot nearer but still felt like football from a different era watching it

Go back to late 70s and coverage of euro aways often consisted of about 3 minutes with the commentator clearly in a studio 1000s of miles away

I remember England playing a mid 70s friendly in Argentina and we only got second half and it may well have been black and white

It defies belief the advances that's been made in 40 odd years

The Brazil away game with THAT Barnes goal, they didn't show the first half live and hence that goal as it clashed with Surprise Surprise.

Those old games from afar in Eastern Europe definitely had their own level of hostility, almost non-stop whistling from the crowd.

Thought it was fucking ace in Skopje when the Rabotnicki fans did it.

It does when you think we can watch someone score a goal thousands of miles away, but a school can’t organise some PPE and a revised timetable.

Weird, humans, when you think about it.

List the countries where members of our armed services should risk their lives:

Romania

Bulgaria

Hungary

Lithuania

Serbia

In my opinion a phone call telling him he can have them back would suffice, eastern expansion is what did for the EU

Give the people of those countries a quick bell first and see what they think about going back to soviet rule.

They wont be able to get the coach to Victoria and do a weekend touch screen course for their CSCS cards and earn western Europe salaries to send home anymore.

This would help to stabilise the European-UK economy. If Putin wants to roll his tanks then we can put up a token political fight but no fisticuffs please

I agree to an extent

Putin wants his legacy to be reclamation of the Soviet states amping with a foothold in Europe so he’ll be given a seat at the table.

He fears assassination so will want to secure his legacy soon.

Gosh, some reality.

well, this, and the Euro

Ego

From what I can see the eastern European states have contributed little except cheap unskilled labour exploited by the likes of Mike Ashley, Philip Green and their like. So he can have them back.

But will he accept such an offer? Putin needs to destabilise Europe as much as he can and the continuing incorporation of these states will further economically affect the European states

So if youre born in eastern europe, get fucked?
