Buying a bike

Doing lots of cycling on and off road but using a heavy Halfords bike that’s past it’s best and looking to upgrade, where’s the  best deals for bikes and what should I be looking for to replace it?

Go a proper independent bike shop who will advice you on what you need and not Halfrauds who will sell you some shite. If you are looking for a road bike I can recommend Specialized but make sure

  • Think cycle to work scheme is still in place Save you a fair bit if your employer can be arsed

£96 off a £400 bike, just registered our business for the scheme, I’ll take it from there.

If you are looking for a road bike I can recommend Specialized but make sure what they sell you is the right size and fit. A correctly fitted bike will make your cycling so much more fun.

I’m gonna give them a try being local. There’s also a company local called Merlin bikes anyone know about them?

No, I’ve some Lycra shorts with the ball bag protector, checked out the full length job that’s like leotard, £100 so fucked that off. Looked at a magnetic bottle carrier and bottle it was £30 so that was also fucked off.

As an aside was struggling with the old push iron to do 15 mile, did 25 mile with the new one today, knackered now though. As I set off saw birch pushing the pram, suited him and he was still talking teabags. 😂

For me it’s vital I’m struggling to walk more than 2 miles as I’m waiting for hip op, cycling 20 miles plus gives me less pain and eats the calories.
