Most underrated players.

There's a piece in the BEN about BWFC most underrated players.

Agree with a few, Branny

Simon Charlton

Roy Greaves etc , and even agree about Henrik Pedersson.

But would like to add a mainly forgotten face from a dark time where he was consistently the best player on the pitch in a White shirt.

Brian Borrows.

Went on to play for years at the top level without really ever grabbing the glory.

Correct and what did he cost 3.5m fuck all then

we have some strange fans, Nolan pratley & Taylor just to name a few who got underserved shit

I remember David Lee getting some in his later days, crazy

The common thread though is they were all past their best, regular picks whether on form or not and unfortunately slower than their opponents, so gave the ball away and committed too many fouls.  That's not an opinion, just the way it was.  Its difficult to think of any player that ticks those 3 boxes not getting stick, rightly or wrongly.

Agreed, Laville was class. Such a shame we didn't get to see more games from him - he only played 15 times for us..

And he bought about 20 reprobates a bottle of JD in Malta Nightclub on a pre season tour. Happy days.

Alan Gowling, had a great partnership with Frank Worthington in the late 70s.

My namesake David Lee, only thing missing from his game was a pair of shooting boots.

Phil Brown, a rock at the heart of our defence in the 80s/90s.

Neil Whatmore, his goalscoring stats were mighty impressive.

Going to throw one in here for discussion Lee Chung-yong?

Very good shout.  I was watching our 3-1 win over Wigan earlier, where CYL was pulling the strings.  He had so much creativity and was a goalscoring threat too.  It was sad to see Max Clayton in that game. What looked a promising career, ruined by injury
