Most underrated players.

There's a piece in the BEN about BWFC most underrated players.

Agree with a few, Branny

Simon Charlton

Roy Greaves etc , and even agree about Henrik Pedersson.

But would like to add a mainly forgotten face from a dark time where he was consistently the best player on the pitch in a White shirt.

Brian Borrows.

Went on to play for years at the top level without really ever grabbing the glory.

Barness did his bit too alongside Charlton

Pederson was underrated by everyone, except @Ani

I wouldn’t call Branagan under rated myself, he always tends to crop up in ‘best ever’ discussions and had his share of adulation at the time.

Colin Hendry had a particularly underestimated effect, I reckon.

Paul Warhurst?

Always thought he was tremendous. Shame he was injury prone.

Bruno N’Gotty.

106 games for us, more than I though it would be - still helped us get in and stay in the PL - that first season back in under Alladyce was the most league games he managed in one season for us, 25

Was just about to post that 😊

Nathan Blake as well, might not have been a clinical finisher but he was immense in his own way.

Simon Charlton solid at left back and was great when he had to play center back for a short arse.

Andy Todd was quality that year in the Prem.

I thought mike whitlow did a good job for us at both centre back and left back.

One of the last vocal leaders on the pitch we had.

Underrated XI can be formed on this thread.

I'll add;

Matt Clarke

Scott Green

Simon Coleman

Ian Marshall

That tackle on Simon Coleman still sticks in the throat .

Didn't Bruce Rioch try to do a citizen's arrest on Gabbiadini ?

Reckons it was ABH.

Yep , I think he charged onto the pitch to get at him .

Got undeserved flack at times

Powerful forward bet he was defenders nightmare

I think the classic unsung hero from the 1970s was Peter Nicholson.

Somebody else mentioned Brian Borrows from the 80s - a shining light at a gloomy time.

In the 1990s I'd be tempted to go for Robbie Elliott once he'd been switched to central midfield.

Thereafter: Mick Whitlow, Simon Charlton, Anthony Barness, Gareth Farrelly, Emerson Thome for a short time, Tamir Cohen did well for a bit and chipped in with a few goals.

Later still - Gary O'Neil was a true pro in his time with us, it was a shame we couldn't keep hold of Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Matt Clarke

Simon Charlton

Chris Fairclough

Mike Whitlow

John Ritson

Scott Sellars

Steve Thompson

Roy Greaves

Henrik Pederson

Nathan Blake

Rod Wallace

Mark Patterson

Bryan Small

only time I've ever seen a manager do that was Graham Taylor  in charge of Wolves away at Sheff Utd, where some home fan gobbed at him, so he went after him

I blagged myself into an event at Burnden on the evening we got relegated against Southampton.  I spoke the Simon Coleman and in my pissed up state said the him that at least with relegation he could get his own back on Gabbiadini.  To say he wasn’t impressed was an understatement
